Thetford Toilet replacement

Can someone tell me which brand and model new low profile toilet replaces the original Thetford in my 1978 24' Argosy. Thanks.

There are at least two different models that have been used by owner's of '77-'79 Argosys recently. My dealer recommended the Thetford Bravura Low Profile for my '78 Minuet. I am satisfied with the match - - it is marginally taller and has a slightly larger footprint than the original. Installation required slight modification to the box that encloses the black water tank, and its slight additional height means that the door on cupboard behind the toilet doesn't open completely. Janet mentions in the Too Many Thrones Thread that the Dometic SeaLand Light porcelain toilet fits without modification. The SeaLand is available in a greater color selection than the Thetford, and should be easier to clean since the bowl is porcelain which is less sensitive to cleaning compounds utilized.

Good luck with your research!

Kevin

I just rebuilt my last winter - the toilet is not available, but the parts are. Check with (I think this is the web site - if not let me know) Marksrv.com. Bit of warning the parts will cost about as much as a new toilet, but to me it was worth it to keep the original toilet because as Allen mentions above, I would have had to make modifications. I was not against a new one, just did not want to have to do surgery to replace.

Ok, Kemosabe what is your situation?
1 No Toilet?
2 Leaking Toilet
3 Busted Toilet... broken and/or missing this and that.

Mine leaked in my 78 Excella. It is a Thetford Aquamagic and I was able to find the replacement valve and correct the problem. I suspect yours is the same model. It is a dickens to get out and back into the bathroom because of the cramped space. If you need more help on removal and installation I can send more info.

To get it out you just need to be a little "flexable"

The Sealand traveler lite model is the only one we found that would fit in our minuet without interfereing with the "secret compartment" behind the tiolet. It comes in 2 heights and a bunch of colors. It is a tight fit - but when properly installed - it will fit. It's procelin and ours is holding up well. Oh yeah..... it comes with a crumby seat - but takes a standard size seat so we swapped it out for a nice wooden one.
