I've seen the dishware posted with the Airstream being pulled by a Metropolitan. Had to post this poster for all the Argosy owners in case you want to look for "THE" classic tow vehicle to match your trailer (what was AS thinking???). Got a laugh from me since I was a teen at the time and this WAS the vehicle I thought was my destiny!!
I have a set of those dishes. They are special to me because I once owned a brand new Metropolitan, the same color as the one on the dishware.
It took me almost 50 years to get the Airstream and, of course, the Metropolitan is long, long gone. Of course, the Metropolitan wouldn't have towed anything bigger than a kid's wagon.

Ok, something went wrong. I was trying to post a picture sent to me in Adobe Acrobat (a PDF file). I saved the picture to MY DOCUMENTS in my computer - 747KB and then tried with this new post to attach it from MY DOCUMENTS. It did not attach and it did not show an error here in the forum to indicate that it did not attach. What went wrong?? Wanted to share, help??!! Leigh
Hi Shari - Down in Attach Files it indicates the valid attachments are jpg, bmp, gif, jpeg, png, pdf, txt and zip. Do I have to change my pdf to jpeg or something?? How to??? Crud!!!!! Leigh
No, No, No, you misunderstand - I have a NEW EXCITING picture to share with you guys. Can I change the picture?? I went back into the document I saved to MY DOCUMENTS and the only size I see is % as in 121%. The document is 3 pages long at 747KB, but I can't seem to find any way to attach just the 1st page, which is the picture. Got ideas??? Leigh
Oh, I just got an idea - the Adobe file is still in my e-mail (I think). Can I send it to somebody here (a moderator) and see if they can attach it to this post??? Not that I don't want to do it myself, if somebody doesn't mind walking me thru.
Oh no -- is that the AMC Pacer? A "bubble" car for a "bubble" RV, I guess. But wow, was that Pacer ugly or what?
Maybe I shouldn't say anything. There's probably a "Classic AMC Owners Club" out there somewhere that lovingly restores those things. I'll probably be censored for slandering this example of desperate 1970's auto manufacturing.
But I think of it as the "American Yugo", right up there with the Subaru Justy and Chevy Vega in terms of ugly and cheap. (And I owned a Vega, so believe me, I've felt the pain!)
Anyway, this picture should entertain the crowd that was debating the Airstream/Intrepid topic. (Don't you just love how the back end of the Pacer is sagging?)
Hey Shari - A million thanks!! I would love to know all your talents for getting these computers to cooperate!
Do you remember after we first got our Argosy and I was asking about attaching it to a 70's Bronco. I missed the mark by not thinking about this little "Jewel" as a tow vehicle!!
Rich - RIGHT ON!!! Like I said, What was AS thinking??? Of course, back in 1972 I would have died for one of these "cute little babies". Luckily, my parents were in charge!!!
That Pacer sure looks like it needs a WD hitch! A pretty girl once talked me into replacing her radio in a Pacer. What a nightmare that was. I wonder how many AMC mechanics quit after working on that POC.

There are currently quite a number of the Argosy/Nash Metro items up on Ebay -- napkins, plates, perhaps some other things. Was doing a search and came across them this morning (6/22). Might be just the thing to fill that "geek chic" collection. Of course, I prefer the Nash wagon with the Pininfarina body - and it would likely tow better.
