RV Wraps for an Argosy???

Has anyone ever looked into RV wraps for their Argosy? I have seen alot of buses and trucks done with the huge sticks and I wondering if it would be cheaper than painting. The downside they only last 3-6 years from what I can find on the internet. But you could really have some unique designs.

Just think, I could be driving the Viagra Argosy. It already looks like a pill and get paid to fix it up. I guess the getting paid part would take some looking into.

Wrap

I would think about it an call around. You will more than likely spend more money on that than you will on painting it.Painting will last way longer and also has a clear coat.
Once the wrap starts coming apart over time you will have to pay someone to remove it.Then you are out more money unless you have it to spend. Then go for it.

We wrapped one of our shuttle vehicles here at the dealership and it cost $1300 for the graphics and $600.00 to install it. Seems very durable but i could imagine over time it will fade. By then it will be a used car on the lot once removed.
Good luck but sounds expensive. Might as well paint it..

nick, I have thought about doing that too.....we are huge nascar fans and I thought that might be cool to do something with racing on a wrap....but figured that it would be expensive....I am waiting for an estimate on painting for my argosy right now.

I can tell you that it cost $1600 for Imron paint alone and another 1200 to have it sprayed. Hubby did auto collision repair and did all the prep and primer and sanding... lots of work... This is in Canadian funds.. he had it painted by pro who does transports etc.. would he do it again... has done it on 2 Argosys ... and maybe a third in the future.. who knows

I would be happy if I could find someone to paint it for $3-4k. I spoke to a guy today and he told me that it will cost closer to $10k to have it painted. I told him I would rather sell the darn thing and get a silver airstream. I am going to keep looking but it i tough because none of the body shops in my area have large enough booths so they wont even consider doing it. That is why was thinking of the wrap idea. I have a couple of quote requests out and see what I hear.

If you figured in Hubby's time and materials to prep and prime... it would be close to 8-10,000. That is why we like the Argosys so much..makes the exterior worth it for us when you can do it yourself..

Trailer Wrap

We ran into this AS which is owned by the Sylvania company and used to promote their new line of puck lights. The guys that were travelling with the unit told me that Sylvania spent around $10K to have this trailer wrapped.

Shermantic,

Was that price recently and did that include stripping it? The prices I am getting are over $7K to strip, seal, and paint with an industrial or DuPont paint. The paint alone is nearly $2500. The auto body places are telling me paint shot up in Price when gas did. I was hoping with the economy I could find somewhere willing to work with me. Most places wont even give a quote because they don't have a space to do something that large. I am wondering if it would be a lot cheaper to strip it myself or find someone that needs work to do the stripping.

Nick

I just received an estimate of $3950 today to strip. etch prime, paint prime, paint white pearl on top and light gray on bottom and a clear coat over everything. The painter was also going to use a better more durable paint than Dupont brand. It sounds like his price is fair to me.

Paul.

That estimate is right at $2000.00 off target, for a 24 foot Airstream or Argosy panit job, not to be confuded with a clearcoat.

Make sure the shop knows what they are talking about, since they will be painting aluminum, instead of steel.

Make "super sure" that they will not use "acid" in any form, on the trailer. To do so, will cause a number of water leaks, in time.

Andy
