Red face Rub rail missing....

Hello everyone.

I'm a real newbie here. Just brought home my first travel trailer ever. 73 Argosy 26. Needs work, but not total junk
I've found online sources for most of the stuff I will need for replacing.
However, I'm missing almost all the lower rubrail molding. Any ideas where to get some?
Thanx, Mkeeiron

Have you checked out doors mart, vintage trailer supply, or inland Rv? All three have a wide range of items. I've seen it on at least one of these web sites. I think the had black and blue in different sizes.

Unfortunately, the non-insert type moldings was discontinued about 30 years ago.

You can, if you wish, try to find some from a wrecked trailer, or replace all of it with the newer style, "insert type moldings".

From your description, I am not certain whether you are looking for the metal (aluminum) rubrail molding, or the vinyl rubrail insert. The vinyl rubrail insert was made available by Airstream in Argosy orange several years ago, and the last that I heard, it should still be available from any Airstream dealer or Airstream Authorized Service Center. I am not certain whether the aluminum molding itself is still available or if it may be obsolete . . . I do know that it was used for many years so suspect that it may still be available . . . I doubt, however, that the unique Argosy orange endcaps for the trim at doors or compartment access points will be available.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin

Thanx for every ones replies. Andy hit it in the head, I am looing fo the 2.5 inch wide aluminum molding, with no insert. If I go for some newer style, will they come pre bent for the corners or will they have enough flex to work around the corners?

The rub rail and belt line moldings all come in a 16 foot straight piece.

They bend very easily, with one hand, for installation.

In fact, they bend almost as easy as a wet noodle.

To save on shipping, those moldings can be cut in half, and then UPS can ship them instead of motor freight trucks.

Your current molding end caps may or may not work with the new moldings.

Thanx Andy. Looks like I'll be ordering some from you I just have to decide which style. I have another question... What is the screen spline size for the window screens? I just got some .125 size from Home Depot and can't make it work. Too thick? Any suggestions?
