replace the exterior endcap(s)?

I wonder if this is indeed possible with stock panels?
As some may know, I acquired some A/S and Argosy parts recently and among them are a number of panels. I can easily make a new front and rear section with what I have. Actually, I could likely replace every segment on the trailer!
What issues might I come up against?
Would I "just" drill the rivets, pull the cap off and replace with the segments.
Interested in opinions. anyone know whats actually under an A/S's endcap segments? Is it some form of frame that the segments are riveted to? Would this need to be fabricated for the Argosy?
The reason for my pondering this is because of the recent posts where folks have stripped and polished their trailer and then painted the cap, in most cases to match the polish as best they can.
This would be a step beyond that of course.
