RE: Argosy with Rear Entry Floor Plan

I finally located my sales literature for the 1975 through 1979 model years for Argosy. The Rear Entry Floor Plan was offered in 1975, 1976, and 1977 - - it seems to have disappeared about the time that the Minuet was introduced.

In 1975, Argosy offered two primary floor plans in the 22-foot model - - a traditional front entry with an empty weight of 3,360 pounds and hitch weight of 560 pounds; and a "Rear Door Model" with an empty weight of 3,720 pounds and hitch weight of 410 pounds. The "Rear Door Model" shared its bath with the front entry model, but little else was common between the two floor plans - - the bath is located immediately to the left as you enter with a double-wardrobe on the streetside opposite the door; to the right of the door is an "L" shaped dinette; the galley is entirely streetside; a credenza table is in the approximate position of the "traditional" front entry door; and a lounge is found across the front. The front entry 22' is a typical floor plan for Airstream products of that size and era with a lounge to the right of the door, galley to the left, lounge opposite the galley, rear bath, and wardrobe.

In 1976, the Argosy 22 was again shown with both the typical front entry floor plan as well as the "Rear Door Model". The weights listed were also the same as in 1975.

In 1977, the Argosy 22 was shown only with the front entry. The "Rear Door Model" moved up to the 24' model that was now offered with both the traditional front entry floor plan as well as the "Rear Door Model". With the "Rear Door Model", the bath was the standard rear bath which was immediately the left of the entry door; a wardrobe was found streetside immediately opposite the entry door; the galley was streetside opposite an "L" shaped dinette; and a pair of twin beds are shown on opposite sides of the aisle in the front of the coach (I suspect that these are convertible lounges, but nothing is said or shown in the literature to confirm or deny this suspicion). The Argosy 24 Rear Door Model is listed with an empty weight of 3,750 pounds and a hitch weight of 475 pounds; while the front entry model is listed with an empty weight of 3,610 pounds and a hitch weight of 560 pounds.

I have only run across two of these coaches in my travels. I didn't know how unusual this floor plan was at the time as I was just developing an interest in Argosys.

Kevin

And Ray (nu2argosy) now has posted 4 photos. I like that interior! Somebody had noted who had done it on another thread Ray started. What are the details?

Well, RTFM. Right? All I had to do was look in my 1976 manual. I knew the entire line's floor plans from 20' to 28' were in there. I didn't suspect it would include the plans for this uncommon trailer.

Key:
1. Waste outlet
2. Water Inlet -- City
3. Univolt
4. 120V Distribution Panel
5. Battery
6. Furnace
7. Water Heater
8. Water Pump
9. Water Inlet -- Tank
10. Electrical Inlet -- City
11. Toilet
12. Range and Oven
13. Range Exhaust Hood
14. Sink
15. Air Conditioner
16. Refrigerator
17. Table
18. Travel Lounge
19. AM-FM Stereo Radio/Tape
20. LPG Tanks and Regulator
21. Hitch

What you are looking for does not exist.
The rounded (Airstream shaped) Argosy went out of production in 1980, and then they were not making small ones. When they did the square sided ones they only ran for a few years 87,88,89 I think, and the smallest I have seen is 27 footer.
