I wanted to get a decent trip under my belt before posting about fuel mileage. I'm pretty happy with this little Ram EcoDiesel. On a trip from New Mexico to Oregon, towing the Argosy at what I consider about 3/4 loaded, I averaged 20MPG. I like that! (Note: I wasn't hauling a water tank as it has been temporarily removed).

I have a 25 ' safari with a maximum weight of 6300 lb.

I am considering a eco diesel.

Crew cab?? 5,7 ' box??

I am thinking his number are too good to be true. I have a 24 argosy and am happy to get 12 - 13 mpg with my eco boost F150

I think this number is good considering he got a lite trailer and is probably cruising at 55-60 mph I guess.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but the fuel mileage is true. The truck gets 26 highway without pulling. Our average was 20 on that trip. It's an amazing truck. I researched the towing MPG as well as possible before purchasing the truck. It doesn't disappoint.

I don't have much more detail to supply about the truck, except: it's a crew cab, 2 wheel drive, Longhorn package. My trailer is a 26 foot Argosy '72. I don't know the tongue weight off the top of my head, but it's the average for the Argosys I'm sure. I don't regret buying that truck at all. I'm getting 26MPG highway (not towing); average of 20MPG with trailer. That's at speeds of 55-65. Sometimes lead foot gets away from me on those empty New Mexico highways.

I don't know much about the Ford ecoboost. I've heard it's good. All I know is that my average is true. We took our RAM EcoDiesel and 26' Argosy from New Mexico to Oregon and back, averaged 20 MPG.

I have a RAM EcoDiesel, and it really is a wonderful truck. Here is my thread on the truck.

I have a 4x4 crew cab with 6'4" box. Probably the worst EcoDiesel for economy and I have averaged 20.7 MPG in the 14,000 miles I've driven it. My best tank is 25.8 MPG and I get 14.5 MPG towing our 6,500lb '72 Ambassador.

It is a dream towing a trailer with this truck compared to our 2002 Sequoia.

Wow! Another EcoDiesel owner. The only thing I don't like about them is the oil filter and oil change cost. I live in a small town that has a Dodge dealership, and they couldn't even change the damn filter. I went to the city where I bought the truck and got it changed without a problem, but I did have to drive 90 miles to get it done. Yes, I could bought a filter online and done it myself, but I wanted to be sure the warranty stuff on a brand new truck was registered, etc. I think once the dealerships get used to these having these trucks, it won't be such a hassle.

The dealer changed my oil for about $160. No problems. I don't live in the middle of nowhere, though.

Looks like the average mpg on the chart since the first fill up is climbing as break-in loosens her up a little, Top.

I worked for new habits after I bought my CTD in 2007. I wasn't satisfied with what I was doing, I wanted to get myself out of the way to see what the truck could do. What a turbodiesel can do is sure impressive.

I haven't kept accurate fuel records since the past few years, so I call it nineteen around town. It's actually above twenty. But I also spec'd the truck for highest mpg, live in a warm climate with flat terrain and changed my driving habits. If I lived in a colder climate with auto trans and 4WD I wouldn't be near any of you, good habits or not.

Our fathers paid little for fuel and less for tow vehicles. But they'd have been as impressed as we've been with these trucks.

I've corrected my sig numbers to reflect $2.60/gl fuel. And here's my hope you all of you also reach 200k miles at 5k engine hours as mine recently did with the equivalent of no more than the new ujoints and a couple of pocket change repairs required.

Yeah. Every 10k miles isn't that bad. I absolutely love the truck and the mileage it gets while towing the AARRGG

Correction-
The MOPAR filter is $60 at the dealer. The oil is $9.15/qt.

I had a little problem with an oil change at the dealer yesterday, but two free oil changes made the fury subside.

I've got the EcoDiesel Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same engine pulling a 22' Argosy, and I have the same mileage if not better in good conditions. Love that thing. I'm thinking of switching to the Ram EcoDiesel before going west this summer and crossing the rockies several times in the US and Canada. Thoughts?

A TT as small as yours in A/S relative terms can be pulled by a bicycle. But expect that the heavier TV with the same motor will have a little less pep.

stevenc: My trailer is 26', so I'm not sure how to compare the Jeep with same engine vs the Ram Ecodiesel. Yeah. It's a great vehicle. I'm not disappointed. I don't intend to tow anything bigger than my 26' Argosy, so I don't need a big Cummins, etc. I know those area great trucks, too.
