Proud Grandma of Argosy Minuet!!!

My daughter & son-in-law just put a down payment on a 1977 Argosy Minuet Six Metre!!!! I don't know who's more excited---my daughter or me! We're taking a road trip to Minnesota next Friday to pick her up. My nightly surfing of Craig's List paid off for the kids. From the pictures the owners sent, she looks to be in very good shape & cute as a bug. We're planning on camping in her on the way home (I'm going with my daughter & doing the towing--she's never towed anything), so I hope there aren't any varments that will tag along! My daughter plans to join the forum after she gets the trailer & learn lots from this site. I know I have learned everything I know about Airstreams & the people here are always polite & welcoming.

She's going to need a door (for the water heater I think), a good paint job on the bumper & hitch for starters! Also, should she have something to cover the front window for the trip home? I've read the windows on the Minuets are pricey if they break. What to do for the trip home?

Here are a couple of pictures that the owners sent:

We love our Minuet!

We currently do not have anything to protect the wrap around windows on ours and have towed her many, many miles without a problem. Eyeglasses for Scatter Bug will happen, but we need to save up the $$$ first.

Towing a Minuet is a dream. We open the front curtains and the back shade so that we can see what is behind us. It's narrow so our truck is wider than she is. We can see everything to the side and back of us and it's rock solid behind our tow vehicle.

So happy for your family. Only negative (from my point of view) is the tiny grey water tank. A blue boy solves this.

Congrats on the Minuet! That trailer looks to be in good shape with some nice renovations. We adore ours - like myboyburt said, the trailer is wonderfully easy to tow. Seeing all of the roof leaks we had in ours, I'm REALLY happy it has the aluminium/styrofoam composite floor - no rot there.

Those curved wrap windows are unobtainium in the original clear glass. (You can get them in the tinted glass that is currently used by Airstream - but like you said, they're expensive and a lot of work to replace.) Then again, lots of folks (including the current owners) have towed lots of miles without the sunglasses. (I did get a pair - they look cool as well as protect.)

Hope your daughter enjoys her "new" trailer!

Something to note for the tow home - the hitch height is approximately two inches less than it will be for your trailer, so plan accordingly.

Tom

Well, we're somewhere in NE Iowa called Harvest Acres near Cresco. They have wifi, so we're checking that out. The Minuet is in really great shape! We do want to have the tires checked out tomorrow before we head for home--lots of checking on them. Here are a couple of pictures of my daughter, Jill, and her new toy! She just has to come up with a name now. We always called her Jill the Pill when she was little......?

She'll be joining soon!

Jill looks very happy, especially hanging out in that front dinette alcove surrounded by the panoramic windows. That's our favorite spot in our Minuet.

Hope she gets years of enjoyment out of the trailer.

Having been one who had the front wrap around window break, the 'sunglasses' are well worth the money. By the time you find a new window and put it in, you have spent far more than the cost of the rock guards. Just because you haven't had a window break doesn't mean it won't break the next time out.
