Propane tanks for 22' rear

Our trailer came without propane tanks which (we hope) might contribute to the reported 'poor handling' of the trailer due to bad weight distribution. So, when we pick it up, we likely want to install new tanks, fill 'em, and then see how that affects the tow.

Question: What size tank? 31 lb seems to be the standard? What should I expect to pay for a pair of new tanks? Buy online? And how do you guys monitor your propane level? Some kind of gauge?

20's or 30's would work. Since you have an Argosy you will not want to get the Aluminum ones and polish them. This will save you some money. You can get them at any propane dealer.

Most tanks do not have a fuel gage, but some do. With two tanks and an automatic switch over regulator, you just turn them both on. When the primary empties it switches over to the other tank and an indicator on the regulator tells you.

Filling your water tank and having the waste tanks empty will also increase your hitch weight...

Worthington offers aluminum 30 lb. tanks with optional gauges ($60 extra). The tanks aren't cheap (Vintage Trailer Supplies) but they are easy to handle when you have to lug them around.

Manchester tank offers 20 lb. as well as 30 lb. steel tanks with gauges. I don't see them listed in Camping World but I thought I saw them on the shelf last time I was there.

I just bought 20 lb tank at Costco for $22.
The only working way to check the propane level is to have it weighted, or spend big money on the tank with a gauge.
I have gauge on my forklift tank, but I can never tell if I have 1/8 or 0.
The switch over is one way to deal with it. We use very little propane, so in the past I didn't see purpose of carrying both tanks. When I wanted to check the level, knowing the empty tank weight I could check it easily and accurately with fisherman style, spring scale.

If you need a regulator with the switch over function, I have a new one.. Stupid here had a leak and thoight it was the regulator. after two I dicovered where the darn leak was... Thus I have a spare/ A fisher $100.00 plus shipping
