Plumbing tip and Discovery
Recenty I bought a new water pump and installed it myself. Aside from working the new hoses, filter, and pump into that small area under the seat of the Argosy, it was no problem. Actually, getting the old one out was more work. Learned something: as I took out the old hoses I found two 8 inch stainless steel springs in two places. Called my Airstream guy and he had to think for a minute..then said "these are used to keep the hose from collapsing". What a neat idea. I used them again when I had to make serious bends in the hose.
TIP: While I was paying for the pump, another guy came and picked up a tiny, tiny strainer which fits into drain hoses to keep insects out. It cost him ...for ONE...over $8. He didn't flinch and the salesman said the item is a special one. I guess so. What I did, and I am certain it is not original, was to take O-RINGS that fit the end of the drains and fitted nylon screen over the end, held on by th o-rings. Just trimmed off excess nylon screen and it does the trick. Sure a lot cheaper!!!!
