Hi all. My name is Greg. I live in SO Cal.

I just picked up a 1977 Argosy 28' and am beginning the refurbishing process now. I think it is an unusual model, because it has the mid bath with rear twin beds. It has the wrap around windows front and back. I was just about to spend money on a new 5th wheel when I found this thing. It called my name, and I couldn't resist. It has really grown on me. The body on this one is perfect, and the axles are in good shape. I can't believe how nicely it pulls.

So far I have scrubbed on it a bunch, and gone through the systems to make them work properly. I am amazed that everything still works after 31 years. Just a couple small leaks and what not to take care of, then I will lay in laminate flooring, and get the upholstery done, and add Granite counter tops, etc. I am painting the outside silver metallic (sorry to those who love them old school twinkie style), with gun metal grey metallic along the bottom and hitch area. I also need to find some aftermarket chrome mags that will work.

Anyway, I will post some pics as soon as I take them. I expect to be working on it for at least 6 months. BTW- Awesome info on this site. Looking on here was the deciding factor in tackling this project, because you guys are so full of great info.

Welcome. Love those Argosys, no matter what color you paint them. You have the perfect layout in Airstreams. We got the 31ft Sovereign with the rear twins just so we could have better sleeping arrangements. If we could have found your Argosy, we would have bought it. Please post pictures as soon as you can. Thanks for saving an Argosy. They are great little trailers.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the trailer. I have not heard too much about Granite counter tops in Airstreams and was wondering if they would be a good choice. They would add considerable weight to the trailer and they have zero flex to them. Has anyone had any experience with Granite?

BTW, we are currently getting estimates for these in our kitchen at this time. The price has dropped a lot in the last couple of years...

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I don't think the weight will be much of an issue with the granite counters, but the flex issue could be. Do you guys think Corian would be better?

Just an idea--you can have the sink fabricated into the countertop or not.....lighter in weight, I would imagine...welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new trailer......pj

Welcome to the FORUMS. I am sure you'll have fun with the refurbishing of your trailer. I have a 1979 30A with twin beds. It's an unusual looking trailer. Not many to been seen on the road these days.

Granite will most certainly crack with the trailer movement. Corian is an option, or you could have a local shop fabricate a stainless steel counter with integral sink for about the same price. Reasonably light and very durable.

Welcome and good luck. Watch out with the granite, very heavy and the load will be all to one side. The cabinet would most likely need to be reinforced. Remember, the designers meant for these things to be light weight and well balanced.

Welcome.......

Last September we spent a week in Crescent City, CA. I ran across this painted Argosy. Went by several times, but nobody home. We really wanted to see the inside.

The paint was a very bright silver, like on a Porsche, or Ford truck. Not gray, bright, bright silver, and not a flaw. No voids around the rivets like we see so often.

We will be there again over Labor Day, will see if it is there again.
