This has me thinking now....instead of bassboat huge metalflake red, how about bassboat huge metal flake gold for my trailer. I was gonna polish it. But that paint would sure be a lot less maintenance.
That might look too bling bling though to come into the campground with the metallic gold camper. Still be cool though

What's the average price for a good paint job?...
I can understand your dilema. My Argo has been in the paint shop since 5/18. They are prepping it for the paint job now. I'm still unsure of what color to have them paint it. I sent them the picture of the Silver Argo on Ebay and told them that I wanted it to look like that. Yesterday, I asked if they thought that the striping should be a dark grey like my tow vehicle. And if so, what should the rest of the paint color be?
I think I'm going to stick to the Silver/Grey arena. Not because I want it to like the more collectable Airstreams. It's just very attractive. Besides, my Argosy IS an Airstream.
I'm getting the 2 coats, base and clear, and the total cost is $2250. I'm being told that it will look like it just arrived from the factory. Is the pricing reasonable? Thanks.

A good paint man I know wanted $1200 to paint my T-Bird a couple years ago. Got a lot more surface to cover on your Argosy. Sounds fair to me.

Paint
I used EMRON in 2005 and it still looks great. I used black for frame and silver for banana rap.
If you ask WBCCI, you don,t have a Airstream. Trust me, they woke me up at 2 AM too throw me off there propery. There property was Airstream factory!!! 2005 Homecomming
Got too love WBCCI Rulers.

Sounds like a great price to me....I just paid $600 to have a motorcycle painted. That's 4 small body panels and the gas tank. Your Argy probably has about 50 times the surface area and prep work......DO THE MATH! ....and go for it!!!

Airstream made them....
Don,
Are you serious? Some gomer actually got you up at 2:00am and told you to get out? I'd have given that guy a knuckle sandwich for a late night snack.
That is just wrong.
I understand the WBCCI wouldn't let them in in the 70's, but I thought they were allowed in now.
That's bogus.

Waiting for the paint to dry....
My baby should be ready by this weekend. I'm hoping to have it in time to attend the rally @ Pyramid Lake in July. I still have to get the furnace pilot looked at (and lit), trouble shoot the A/C, check the water heater and most of all, figure out how to stop the mini-monster w/ my TV. I'm pulling it w/ a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II. So far, I'm having trouble finding a brake controller and wiring harness to fit my European wire harness. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Bob got home after being gone for 2 1/2 months and we had three days off. Look what we did with our mini-vacation. Took the Argosy back to the original paint. Now to re-paint the rest in an iridencent cream and clear coat the whole thing. (The green/gray is the primer. Kind of liked that color for an Argosy)

Finally she 'has made a simple choice in painting...
I did'nt know it was for selling she wanted to paint but if she really lost money, why has 'nt she control the final price with a security as a reserve price ?
Beginning the staring price at $500 when you 'v spent $8500 is really risked with no reserve price...
May be Denise in hurry to sale the trailer ?
Bruno.

yeah, easy decision there, I guess.
I can't figure her out--whether she really wanted the Argosy or just bought it to re-sell.
I was looking carefully at all Argosy threads during the time she was posting because I was in the process of selling my Arg on ebay and I wanted to see what was going on in Arg World.

Juel:
Bob’s nice paint job reminded me of the interesting owner of a glorious 1973 GMC motorhome that I met a week or so ago.
His coach had been BEAUTIFULLY re-painted, right outside on the grass, while in MEXICO!
He’d had quotes here in Canada ranging between $8500 to $14,000 but heard about painting in Mexico through his GMC owner’s club.
There he was quoted $1250.00 for a THREE colour paint job.
The night before the coach was to be sprayed, the long faced Mexican painter appeared with an invoice in his hand. “ Dan”, he said, “ this is the most expensive paint I’ve ever seen. The bill came to 1150.00”.
My new friend said he realized that he couldn’t ask someone to do all that work for $100.00, nor did he want to change from the Audi colours he’d specified.
So they renegotiated the price and Dan paid $2100.00 !!!.
(I suppose Bob worked for even less).
Nice looking Argosy.

Gee, I have to do Bob's laundry, cook for him and some other wifely duties I won't mention. That $2100.00 doesn't sound bad now that I think of it. We're looking for a longer Argosy to start working on now. We'd like more room to camp in.

Monster Argy!
Judy, Maybe Bob could make up a triple axle frame and buy several junker Argosies for ribs and panels and you guys could build a "Custom Argosy 30 footer!" Now that would give you plenty of room to camp!!! You can design an interior and window set-up so that the full bath w/ separate shower and dining room could be incorporated into your floor plan. Don't forget the maids quarters. Your thoughts on this project? Ed

This past spring I got a few quotes on having my Argosy 28' painted the quotes ranged from $7000-10k. That was to strip and paint with Duron. I since decided to strip and polish mine. I still need the end caps painted this winter but it should;d be considerably cheaper.
Good Luck

Flames aren't my thing, but that's not to say I'm not different! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
The only one it has to please is you! My neighbors thought I was crazy when I said I was painting Christine black, but after I couldn't keep them away!
Good luck, any color you choose will look marvelous! Flames or not
