New water heater vs attempted resurrection of a Bowen/Atwood G6A2

La tortugas water heater came with a new unitrol and thermocouple, uninstalled.

How difficult is it to install and do I have to remove the heater to do so?

New units start at $400.

I replaced both in my original water heater in my '61 Tradewind without removing the unit from the trailer. It still works just fine.

Well, after some discussion, which included my spousal-unit suggesting that the catalytic heater be placed in the head. After more discussion about the way things work and the pros and cons of forced air ducted vs catalytic, we came to a dual heat system.
Cat heater for boon docking and a forced air (suburban) for other....
