New water heater vs attempted resurrection of a Bowen/Atwood G6A2

La tortugas water heater came with a new unitrol and thermocouple, uninstalled.

How difficult is it to install and do I have to remove the heater to do so?

New units start at $400.

I replaced both in my original water heater in my '61 Tradewind without removing the unit from the trailer. It still works just fine.
