New to Me 24T

Guys and Gals,

I have always wanted an Argosy trailer and bought one in southern Alabama yesterday. It is sound but needs lots of work. I should tow it home to Tallahassee next week after getting new tires mounted.

One of my first tasks will be to find and install the curbside curved front window. Can anyone suggest who to call to find one?

Thanks
Dave A.

I tried to find one last year. Didn't have any luck. I ended up ordering a new one from Out of Doors Mart. The new ones only come in smoke tint instead of clear. Not terribly hard to install. Having some cleco fasteners is a must.

I know Airstream still sells those wing windows for Airstream trailers but I'm not sure if they are available for the Argo's. From what I remember if they are available they are terribly expensive, in the neighborhood of $500 each.
Try Inland RV or Out Of Doors Mart. Both specialize in vintage Airstreams.

Mfg Date vs VIN

Guys,

I have a new puzzle to solve. My 24 needs a Florida title, because it came from Alabama-a no title state for old travel trailers. The VIN plate states the unit was built in 8-1974 but the VIN number is 24T 5V0251. Where the 5V suggests it is a 1975 built in Versailles.

I do not have an old registration for it yet. So what year do I call it on the new Florida title? Is there any feature difference between a 74/75 that I can check?

Thanks
Dave

Go to a FL DMV license plate agency with a bill of sale. There are a few additional requirements that have to be met. I think one of their requirements is one of the officers confirms the vin# on the trailer matches what is on the bill of sale. I know you have to pay a tax and registration fee. After meeting all their requirements, they will issue a temporary/provisional title so you can legally use the trailer on the road. After a waiting period they will issue a normal title.

I think a trailer manufactured in August 74 would most likely be a 75 model.

Argosy and Airstream model years switched in June of each year. Your Argosy's production date in August 1974 would identify it as a model year 1975 coach as the 1975 coaches would have begun production prior to July 1, 1974.

Good luck with your Argosy, I am sure that it will provide you with many years of enjoyment!

Kevin
