New tailights

I was not to keen with the old abs molded tail light housing. I repaired it but still didn't like it, so I installed these for a cleaner look. I really like them plus they are led!Click image for larger version

I have the same lights but have been to chicken to cut holes. I have been bending the lights to see how they contort.

I noticed when I purchased mine, the prices were all over the place. But some had incandescent bulbs for reverse lights and others led.

How did you cut holes? Seal? Mount, any backing?

Your install looks great!

Not finished yet, I cut the holes with a set of tin snips. They conform to the side angle pretty good. The corners on the sides are not flush but once caulked with black sikaflex 221 it will look awesome! I'm on vac now but will finish the lights next week. I'll post pics. Led on turn and stop with incandesce in the middle

You and your thread gave me the courage. The cut is a bit to the side more that yours because of the existing grommet. I'm going to connect the wires with 4 pin trailer plugs for ease of removal. I'm planning to temporarily paint with spray can but repainting entire trailer in the future, so the light will come out a few times.

Looks good!

Looks great!

My plastic housings were toast as well.

I made these housings for mine. Used all 5.5" diameter LED lights from superbrightleds.com Housings are .040" thick 6061 aluminum and riveted with AN headed rivets.

After I made these and installed them, I discovered a place that had ones similar to the OEM's that I replaced. Ah well, mine are unique. I went for a "Corvette Look" with the three horizontal lights on each side, but it came out looking a bit 1930's German Industrial. I like 'em though
