New China Toilet in Old Argosy

To continue a previous thread on whether or not a china replacement toilet will fit in in our 24" Argosy, we did it! We bought a Sealand Traveler Lite low profile (with the extra spray nozzle) and it was a straight forward surgical procedure to make the toilet fit into the small storage compartment, and then figure out how to make the storage door fit back on so you can lift the toilet lid all the way so it will stay up. After removing the old toilet, and the padded storage compartment door, the new toilet was placed on the mounting hole properly oriented as far back as it would go until it touched the the lower lip of the compartment. A mark was made on either side of the toilet cap with a ruler to guide the cutting. Click image for larger version

This is my first try at pictures- I need to learn how to wrap the text!

Nice job!
I have a similar situation, where I'd like to replace the toilet, but that darn compartment is in the way. My plan is to just remove it. its useless, anyway. too small to put anything in there except a toothbrush....and I ain't puttin' my toothbrush in there!

Mine is a little different, though...the back panel isn't part of the molded abs; its just a flat laminate panel, with a cutout to accept the compartment, which is made of a couple of pieces of aluminum bent into a box. I should be able to just fabricate a new panel (flat, square) without the cutout, and make pretend it never existed.

This must be prime time to replace toilets! Last week I installed a Sealand Traveler 511 low pro in my '86 Sovereign. Those china toilets are sure sharp. Off to the dump goes my Thetford Bravura.

I'm torn between the Sealand Traveler 510 or 511. I can fit either one. Not sure I want a toilet that low. It seems like the low profile is almost too low. For those of you who've installed this, what's your opinion?

Taller vs shorter Sealand Traveler toilet

In the Argosy we had no choice. The toilet sits up high on top of the black water tank, and the black water tank is above the floor level. We bought the taller Sealand traveler model by mistake and could not return it. If you are in Central VA for any reason to pick it up we would be happy to sell it to you cheap. I haven't gotten around to listing it on the classifieds...
