I am not absolutely certain, but I believe that standard Argosy trailers utilize 6-inch frame members. I know that when I ordered the frame brackets for my Reese Dual Cam setup it took 6-inch brackets for both the Minuet and Overlander. Hopefully an owner of a standard Argosy will post as the standard line coaches may have heavier frame members than the Minuet.

Good luck with your investigation!

My '74 Argosy 26' uses 4" brackets. Just installed them 2 weeks ago.

The drop is specific to the relative height of your tow vehicle and the height of the coupler on the Argosy when it's level. Remember when you're measuring for the drop that the tow vehicle will drop some when you put the tongue weight on it.

should i wait

Thanks for all the info. Im getting smarter and smarter about trailer hitches. This is a world that never existed to me a week ago. So if my trucks hitch now sits at roughly 17 inches ive heard that an Argosy sitting level is about 18 inches should. This is a 1 inch rise so the four inch rise drop should do. You guys are great thanks!!

Well 1500 miles in 36 hours but a successful recovery mission. She needs more work than we had hoped but will be well worth it. My 3 year old daughter said she was happy for her club house to be home but it needs to be cleaned. She was not kidding. First we are going to strip all the remainder shelfs and cabinets out then the side walls and floor. Oh boy what an adventure.

Making Progress

Hey guys we've been outside working on "Clarabelle" Argosy and haven't posted in a while. Having lots of fun. This forum has been so helpful and a great motivator. So far we have removed walls, insulation, black tank(yuck)and a lot a lot of rivets. Will remove the belly pan today and start to prepare to lift the shell. Heres a few pics and thanks to all for the help and motivation.

Heres a couple more pics. BTW I would be further along but got my truck stuck in the drive way trying to make room for pulling frame. Crazy never been stuck before. Oh and found a funny deposit left by the guys at the airstream plant.

adios belly pan

Got a look at the frame today... I know nothing about metal work but i'm guessing if you can see through holes in the frame thats bad. Im a little nervous thinking we will have the shell lifted next week hopefully its not abad as im thinking.

lets get lifted

WOW!!! What a scary project. There were no fatalities while raising the shell. I braced on a budget and it made for a tretcherous day but, in the end the shell is off and the frame was successfully removed. Now its time for a gin and tonic. VERY EXCITED!!!!
