How did the axles get spread so far apart? Is it a trailer or a motorhome? Is this one for the "what is it " portion of Ask This Old House? I am not trying to be a smart #*&>?" but it is really different looking.:c onfused:

My new Argosy!

Lol , it really isn't mine , I was driving through a little town and the back of an Argosy caught my eye.

I made a u turn, went back and looked at the trailer, and I was as confused about the trailer as you seem to be.

I have no idea what it is on why it is, but I knew I had to share it here .

Dude!
That thing is strange!
It doesn't really appear drivable or towable...

I wouldn't want to tow it.

Four wheel trailers are a handful to control.

It SEEMS to have been factory made that way. Very unusual trailer.

The tail lights and blue striping look to be from 1979.
The axles and the lack of windows are interesting.
On the theory that the Argosy's were Airstreams test market, I still wonder what they were thinking.

I think it is a mh turned trailer possibly due to damage and or desire to use the carcass for a purpose other than scrap. Repurposed motor home that's my guess!

There is a thread (or a couple) concerning this trailer build. I think the consensus was that it was either a prototype or actually used for exhibitions, as it was completely empty. Thats all I remember about the thread and could be mistaken.
