Minuet 6.0 History
From what I have been able to learn through research since purchasing my 1978 Minuet, the model was a result of the energy crisis and the downsizing of potential tow vehicles. The sales literature that I have suggests Doge Aspen/Plymouth Volare, Ford Granada/Mercury Monarch, Chevrolet Nova/Pontiac Ventura and similar vehicles as potential tow vehicles.
In 1977 Argosy lists a 20' trailer, but not a Minuet. It has the standard 7'8" floor width of the rest of the Argosy line. According to my owner's manual, the 20' (or six meter) Minuet was the only 20' trailer and its width was 7' rather than 7'8" throughout the rest of the line. In the 1979 sales catalog, the Minuet with a 7' floor width was available in 20' (single axle), 22' (single axle), and a 24' (tandem axle) model. I haven't seen literature for Argosys after 1979.
The one curiosity that this brings up is the fact that I can't remember ever seeing or hearing of a Minuet that wasn't the 6.0 meter 20' unit.
