Laundry List of Questions!!

I have a load of question and hope you can help a rookie out. 1. Are the fluorescent lights in the kitchen, bath, and ceilings 12V or 110V?? 2. Are covers still available for the long ones in the Kit and Bath? 3. Are there better (warmer) light bulbs that will fit the long tube fluorescent and the circle fluorescents?? 4. Is the radio/8 track 12V or 110V?? 5. Are the roof vent motors still available?? 6. Are the waste stack "things" available?? 7. Are the curved lower front side sections available? 8. My weather seal on the exterior door and windows it the same. Is that the way it came?? It's the stuff with 2 flaps. 9. Are the window 3 position stop blocks available?? Thanks!

One more.............. The interior upper end caps are plastic and are yellowed. They also have a couple fractures at the rivet. 1. Can you repair this plastic? 2. Can you paint it??

As far as painting the plastic at the ends...yes you can. I haven't done it myself but I've seen several links over time that talk about what they did and what kind of paint they used. They included pictures and looked very nice. Sponge painting is popular. I suggest trying the forum's search function for this one and I think most or all of your painting questions will be answered.

1. you will have to look, mine didn't come with fluroscent just 12v automotive style bulbs. Sounds like a PO might have changed them out.
2. Maybe check out InlandRV.com if anybody has them he does
3. Possibly check with somebody like lightbulbs.com I have found out they list the "colors" by K rating. (Kelvin I assume) you will have to determine which is best for you.
4. should be 12 volt automotive style unit
5. Probably get the motor number
6. Covers or just the gasket, again see InlandRV.com
7. Un likely, try to straighten the old ones or be prepared to spend $$$ to have new ones custom made.
8. I believe so, and it is available from several sources
9. Dunno mine are still good, just needed a bit of silicone lube.

And for questions 1 and 2 B...fiberglass repair kit from the back side. Yes they can be painted but you need to be careful with the type of paint if you want it to stick.

I'll take question #1. I am going to assume that the lighting in the Argosy is the same as the rest of the Airstreams of that era. My 75 has no fluorescent lights. They are all 12 volt bulbs that you can get at the auto store. If you can run yours with just the battery, they are 12 volt.

FWIW I am going to be switching my 75 to fluorescent lights...I am going to re-configure the fixtures to use the 12vDC thin line fixtures. Vintage look, but modern low draw lights I will probably keep the reading lights in the front overhead OEM but that is about it.

Flourescents are going to be 12V, as is Radio and 8 Track player.. Tubes/ bulbs don't know the difference...

And yes, there are sources for "WW" or warm white mini-tubes for flourescent fixtures... We replaced cool whites with warm whites and it makes a difference in ours.. We live in urban area with specialty lighting shops, but I assume you can find them on web somewhere... Start with model number on mini-tubes today and then search on the same number using term "warm" or "daylight" for alternate colors..

I have kick that same idea around for a while myself. I would like to avoid the expense of buying lights just to throw half of it away. Do you know where to get only the parts you need?

Yup! Try Thin-Lites I am pretty sure I have seen bare bones fixtures on there. I have purchased a few odds and ends from them in the past. The lights I am looking at are the 140 series.

Take the roof vent motor out and shoot Contact Cleaner(Radio Shack) into the windings while spinning the blade by hand. Shake out the excess Cleaner and see if runs. Both of mine were frozen, and now run perfect after the "treatment".

There are several different plastic paints available at HD or Lowes, they work well on the ABS interior end caps(see pic's on my thread). Make sure you mask off good and cover with drop cloths because the spray residue settles on EVERYTHING in the trailer.
