Just got home with our Argosy....

After a pretty extensive search, we finally found the Airstream for us. We had a list of models to search for and the Argosy Minuet 7.3 meter topped the list. That's what we bought Friday night and here's a picture as she sits in the PO's backyard. I hope to have more pics in my profile later today. It's in very good condition inside and outside and seems to be 98% original!

Yes, that's the original paint job but it does have some touched up areas.

Wow, very nice condition - congradulations.

I'm curious, are the windows lexan - I have heard they are and am wondering how they hold up.

Thanks, Ken.

I believe the side windows are lexan, they give a little when you push on them. They have numerous scratches. Is there anything I can do to hide the scratches?

The front windows I believe are safety glass.

I understand that lexan is pretty tough stuff - what I would do is call a glass place and see it they could polish them out - I would imagine the scratches are fine and seems like they could be fixed.

Very nice trailer!

On some plastics you can polish out scratches by hand using a product called Novus. It's a two step process, polish and cleaner. I've had a lot of luck using it on softer plastics, everything from convertible rear windows to pinball machine plastics. It's probably worth a try on the lexan either way. Maybe try a small spot and see if it works.

Stef,

Thanks for the suggestion about the Novus. I will try to find some.

Hart,

The guy I bought the Argosy from had three other AS trailers he was selling. A couple were 80s and one was a 92. He showed us around these. He buys Airstreams and resells them.

Congrats,...It looks lovely...What year is it ?...I just bought a '78...24 footer(not a minuet)...Doesn't look as shiny as yours...and the inside needs a bit of spic and span...I've nicknamed her "Dirty Gertie" for now...hope it doesn't stick...the name that is.
I'm looking foreward to more Argosy photos here to inspire me and to give me a vision of what is possible...Sounds like the PO may have spiffed it up a bit to sell...so you have a head start...I have a couple of wasp nests in the back to deal with...for starters...and a toilet to replace...

How are things going with your Argosy since you bought her/him/it? Oh, and by the way have you named her/him/it?

Wow!!

You are so lucky to have that beauty! Seeing older units has me wondering why I bought new. I hope my next unit is as sweet as your Argosy!! Love those orange strips!!

Thanks everybody. We haven't been camping in our Argosy since last November.
That was when I found the black tank was cracked and leaking. I pulled the tank and ordered a new one. When it finally arrived it was not made to the specs I sent. It is now back at the tank builders and will come back again one day. Hopefully, it will fit this time.

We are dying to go out and join you guys at the campgrounds again!

Uh, we did name it... Jerry Bear. However, a nickname that I'm currently favoring is "The Painted Pig."

I had not seen your Minuet until today (somehow the post slipped by me). It DOES look nice. We have the 6.7 Minuet (going toward our 3rd yr. now) and have loved it from the moment we saw it. Of course, they end up having issues (ie, repairs) no matter how well kept they have been. We, too, are beginning to deal with replacement, repair, but we have had the wonderful experience of camping in our "Mini Moonunit" now several times. I hope you will soon have that joy and excitement. Please keep posting on your progress, its great to compare notes w/other Argosy owners and hopefully we will all get a chance to meet in person some day.

Go to campgrounds with bathhouses. A little inconvenient but don't miss a whole season. There are lots of AS where the "toilet has never been used".
Great looking unit. Go show it off.

Yeah, I've recommended that. My six year old boy and I would do fine. However, the wife and eight year old girl say they need a pottie.

Of course, we've been anticipating the tank to arrive "any day now" and so we keep putting off a camping trip. Probably should reconsider and just do it.

The kicker is we have reservations for Disney World in October.

You would be amazed at how nice the "potties" are in some of the full hookup camp grounds. Using one of the campground books like Good Sams or other well known ones can help a great deal to place the 'better' ones. We stayed at a really ritzy one outside of Zion NP last summer, very clean w/laundry, pool, sauna, jacuzzi, playground, dog run, and full service store for all necessities. We used the showers there and other than having to pay .25 for 5min. (our teens ran that up a bit), it was easy and pleasant. Just more food for thought - plus then you don't have to worry about finding a dump station! Gives you more time to enjoy the new acquisition while learning its quirks. Food for thought.

This is the wife of Moonshot. It's not the potty or lack thereof that's keeping us from camping.....I'm having the pleasure of working weekends now (Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights) and that schedule kind of cramps the camping style since hubby and kids work/school during the week.
