Something came to mind as I was looking at new Airstreams (that I can't afford) online while looking for a Minuet (which I haven't just quite found yet.)

Is the front rock guard for the 2009 Sport (with newly available panoramic windows) a closer fit than the other versions? I'd imagine it would be narrower....

Tom

Cap'n Squid -- I'd think it'd be fine to mention a ballpark figure. Our restriction is vendors quoting prices and using the Forums for sales.

Got it..I got the full rock guard for 1500$ installed. The dealer said that Airstream's rock guard are a little bigger now over the middle pane. So Camper Clinic had to retro..came out great!

I'm not sure exactly how much one costs now - my guess is around $700.00. Maybe a bit more? You might be able to find one on a wrecked Airstream - maybe but I've never seen one used.

The real issue here is that those curved windows on Argosys aren't available in clear glass anymore for any price and even a tinted one will set you back about the same amount as a rock guard.

As far as price. They have gone up a bit recently. Figure $1000.00 with shipping.

As far as height, our Argosy 24 is almost exactky 10ft. from the top of the original airconditioner unit to the ground. This will depend somewhat on the condition of the axles. After we put new axles under her she was almost 3 inches taller. George

As a bit of a prologue, a couple of things that became apparent while doing the install on our 76 Argosy 24.
1. As came from the factory, the piano hinge on the center section was not perfectly centered on the center section. So the center of the center section is not the center of the hinge. It was off about an 1/8th of an inch. I marked the middle of the window on the trailer and marked the middle of the panel so it would be exactly in the center. Check before you drill, don't assume.
2. As Janet mentions, redrilling the hinges makes for a stronger mount. Before drilling the location of the Dzus fasteners, have someone push the section up against the trailer to determine how tight to make it fit against the trailer. Don't push too hard. The curved section will never totally contact the trailer in all areas.
3. Take your time and have a helper, I could not have done this alone, you need someone to help with alignment. Good Luck. George

Thanks Roger. It's still a work in progress. I try to do something every year, but I always try to keep the trailer useable. If I can ever get a barn or Morten building to work in, I would love to redesign the interior. But working in the driveway has it's limits. Thanks again. George
