How rare are 30'+ Argosy trailers?

After reading a lot of the poster's profiles, I haven't come sacross anyone with a 30'+ Argosy. Do I have a rare trailer?

The only ones I've ever seen up here in Canada are the 24-footers.

30' ???

I have the original sales brochure for '74 Argosy. It shows 20',22',24',26' and 28'. No 30' in '74. Can you post a picture?

There is not a whole lot of info on the Argosy like there is on AS but this site may answer some of your questions.

They only made 30' Argosy's in 1978 & 1979, They were a nice unit, very light and the rear bedrooms had front and rear wrap windows. They were available in both rear and side baths. As well they had a different chassis than the Airstreams of the day and I have never seen one with a bent frame. They did build quite a few at that time.

: How rare are 30'+ Argosy trailers?

The second generation or Square Argosy travel trailers were offered only in the longer lengths. The lengths offered spanned the range of 26' to 35'. These 1986 through 1989 coaches were not sold in great numbers so are comparatively rare in comparison to similar vintage Airstream coaches.

Kevin

P.S.: The Airstream Corporate site does have some interesting documentation on these coaches posted in their Customer Service Section for the years of production.

They would have built 30' Argosy's in 1977 but they were 78 Models. They built a very few in 1980 maybe 10.

Hi Andy
Do you mean 10 total Argosys of all sizes in 1980? Or just 30+' models? I am suspecting you mean 10 total as I have yet to find an Argosy with a confirmed 1980 serial number, though a do believe at least a few were built.

Also, the 1980 Argosy brochure indicates that 1980 Argosys were be available in 20', 22', and 24' Minuets and 25', 28', and 31' standard widths to match the 1980 Arstream Caravelle, International, and Excella II offerings:
https://www.airstream.com/wp-content...minuet-324.pdf

It seems that the front panoramic windows were gone from the 1980 Argosies, so I wonder is they changed to riveted aluminum endcaps under the paint, since they were all built in Jackson Center.

There is an oft quoted statement from Colonial Airstream that there were "less than 100" Airstreams produced in 1980. I am tending to doubt this figure.

I am trying to create a 1980 Serial Number Log to determine the truth. Entries so far suggest the number of 1980 Airstream built could be 400 to 600+ based upon the production sequence numbers, unless they skipped some sequence numbers for some unknown reason:
