We have had the 2 2000's for about a year now and have used them quite a bit. We were also torn between these and the 3000. We've decided that we made the right choice. About half the time we have used only a single 2000. We also use a 6 gallon auxiliary tank that keeps either or both running for a long time. I can handle the weight of the 2000's easily. I just can't do the 3000 weight-wise.
I understand that Honda has just come out with a 2000 with a built-in parallel kit and 30 amp RV outlet.

Here's the info on the new 'Companion' 2KW Honda genny... http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/p...lid=EU2000IAN1
Apparently you can use a simple two-into-one parallel 30 amp cable set-up, instead of the old parallel wiring kit that Honda recommended...
You'll have to buy two of these 'new' gennys, as they mention only hooking up like models...not an older one and this new 'Companion' model...due to the 30 amp built-in socket, of course.

An RV will not plug into this Honda's 30A locking outlet. You'll still need an adapter with a female NEMA Travel Trailer outlet.

The new 'Companion' connects with supplied parallel cord to an older eu2000. I have that exact set-up.

You might want to give the Yamaha a look at also. We have a 3000 with surge that when the A/C kicks in it surges to 3500 watt. The main difference between this unit and the Honda's is that the Yamaha is a single unit and it weighs about 148 lbs. and a single Honda is quite a bit lighter. We prefer the Yamaha because of the noise level. When it is running on economy you can hear it but it is not disturbing at all. The fuel tank is about 3 gallons and it will run close to 7 hours. I parked next to Brian and SuEllyn (Moosetags) this year at the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque and their Hondas were not disturbing at all. I think we were parked about 10 feet apart (enough room for an awning to be extended).
This is just for what it is worth.

We have a Yamaha 3000 and we really like it. It is a bit heavy at about 150 lb. full of gas but so Annie dosen't seem to have to much trouble getting it in and out of the truck by herself.

Will the 2000 run a trailer that has no air conditioner? My power need extend to the dometic fridge, LCD TV, Furnace fan and my computer. How long do they run before needing to be refuelled?

I think it comes down to running the AC... 2000 is smaller but will run everything you need except the AC. IF you want to run the AC buy the bigger one. Otherwise save yourself a few bucks.

A 2000 is more than enough for your needs.

I agree on the 2000. I have a 1000 that is a bit too small (will not run a the vacume sweeper for instance), but it is light. If no A/C requirement, I think the 2000 would be ideal, 3000 too much and too heavy for me.

I have the two 2000s setup and I like it except that the 2000s don't hold enough fuel to run all night long under load - important here in Fla when you need your A/C all night. I'll eventually have to get an aux. gas tank which will take up even more room in the bed of my truck.

Thanks for the reply guys. Since my Tradewind has no air conditioner, I think the 2000 would make a very nice Christmas present to myself. Besides, the 3000 is way too heavy for me.
