Question Fridge compartment lock

Hi everybody
Departure day for our first trip with our Argosy is getting closer. I have fixed the hot water heater and other bits and pieces. The only outstanding item is a fridge compartment lock. Access panel is held in place by two plates and sheet metal screws installed by previous owner. I have been looking to buy lock fitting the original compartment access panel, but without any success. The problem is the depth of the frame, which requires the lock body to be minimum 1 5/8” long. Longest lock I could find was 1 1/8” long. Can anybody help me?

Thanks Ladi

Well, funny you shold mention that. I was just looking at mine, and thinking, "What is all the stuff in there, and why is it locked? Who would want to steal anything?" After all, the water heater compartment isn't locked...

I'm not sure how yours is set up, but you might either try Andy at Inland RV, or bend a longer latch like a long S....

I agree with drboyd, what is in there worth stealing? I replaced the compartment locks on all mine and used the round ace locks, couldn't find any long enough. Get some 1/8" strap at some place like HD or Lowes and bend it to the proper offset, a vice and a hammer work fine.

I don't know if your lock is the same as the one on my trailer, but I had a locksmith ruin mine trying to rekey it.

Had to get a replacement from Oasis RV

Don't remember the cost, had the locksmith buy it.

Good luck.
