Wink First post- 22 Ft.Argosy

Greetings, we have owned our trailer for 11 months, taking one trip from Oregon to the Black Hills. three weeks. Very nice trip. Needs some further work. No serial # on the body. Tracing the stamped numbers on the frame at the front right by the hitch shows 22D8-S5224 9903 I 02 and more numerals illegible. Title shows 55224 only.
Trailer sat out in a field for years. Vent over stove top was open. Rain leaked in, ruined range and badly rusted furnace. Have replaced the range with new stove top and will put in a microwave where the oven was. Problem is how to remove furnace. Big tambour screen from bathroom wall to edge of range/oven is stuck. How to remove?
One feature we haven't read in other posts is slide door at right edge of door over to left side at forward edge of sofa. So with two sofas convertible into beds and slide shut yields two private bedrooms. Very nice feature.
Thanks in advance for any comments. Forrest Gist

Hi Forrest, Welcome to the forum!

Sorry I can't help you, as I do not have any experience with Argosys. There are many on here that do though.

Fill out your profile info as to where you live. Do you live in Oregon? We regularly have get togethers (forum rallys) in the NW. They are great fun!

Next year we would like to take a trip back to Mt Rushmore and the black hills and all that. It sounds like a great trip.

Based upon your VIN, your Argosy may be either a 1978 Argosy Minuet 6.7 Metre or an Argosy 22 -- in either case, the "D" indicates the Double bed floorplan, and the "S" indicates Cerritos, CA assembly plant. The biggest difference between the two was in width the Minuet is 8" narrower than the Argosy 22; otherwise, the floorplans are quite similar with the Minuet having a slightly lighter weight. In fact, if your coach is a 6.7 Metre Minuet, it may also have the composite aluminum floor (a few 6.7 Metre Minuets had the composite rather than the more typical plywood floor).

The Tambour in the base kitchen cabinet can be a headache. If you search the Forums with "Tambour Replacement" as your search string, there are several threads on the subject. I am not mechanically inclined so had Fowler Interiors of Symsonia, KY overhaul the tambours in my Minuet.

The '79 Minuet 6.7 Metre was illustrated in the sales literature with what appears to be a folding divider between the front lounge/sofa area and the balance of the coach. A scan of the Minuet page appears below (only the 6.0 Metre Minuet was illustrated in the 1978 catalog):

Good luck with your restoration project!

Kevin
