Costalotta Start to Finish

In Feb. 06 we purchased this 1979 30 ft. Argosy, rear bedroom with wraparound windows. It was listed on Airstream Forum Classified. We bought it sight unseen except for a few pics for the sum of $1500.00.
Costalotta, hardly the right choice of name but we think it will be appropriate when finished. We picked it up in Virginia on our way home from Florida.
Since we had several people on the forum asking about it we will give a play by play of bringing it back to life.

Many leaks

After winter storage for seven months, picked up and took to Imlay City Michigan for fantastic fans. On this trip our friends Peter and Sharon came, lots of fun and laughs. Spent lots of money on trailers in Elkhart Indiana.
First thing when we got home was to remove the antenna as it was leaking.

Was the roof badly corroded there? I remember Vintage Thunder had a serious corrosion issue there, I think it may have to do with the paint, and two different metals.

Hi Terry, The PO painted it with something, I can't tell what then painted it with cool seal. It is on pretty thick in some places.

Hello Dan.. Yes a bath helped greatly... that was the job I decided to do before we towed it to Seaforth for inside storage... I didn't want to look like the Clampetts going down the road .. only took 5 hours with scrub brush.. Annie

Looked like rain this morning so I worked at taking the kitcher out. Found a large hole under the furnace, I think there was a small leak in the water line at the L above the furnace.

flooring

This week I worked mostly inside the trailer on the floor and removing inner walls. Had three bad spots in the floor. Got them all cut and fit.

Will have to replace this filler panel between the bumper compartment and the back of the trailer.

The end of the frame is rusted pretty bad so I will make some patches after I sand blast, it is just at the tip the rest of the frame is good, I do have to replace several outriggers.

You could just cut it off and give it that "sleek, rounded look"!
Nah! Better replace it....
Where are you gonna store the "potty hose" if you have no rear compartment!
