Sergei,

I'm right behind Judy on reading every word of every post....fascinating! Don't you ever think of selling that wonderful piece of art; it would be such a shame to that, after everything you've put into it.

When you get down to Texas, you are more than welcome to visit us and stay for a bit. We have a RV shelter with full hookup, which houses our Sovereign comfortably.

Hello Ya’ll.

I’m back. Back and re-enthused.

Last winter I made my long-hoped-for first trip to Africa. In February I flew to Cape Town, rented an AVIS car and made a 26 day self-drive loop up along the Indian Ocean to Durban, across to and then through Lesotho and back down to Cape Town, 4428 klicks later.

It was a wonderful, invigorating experience.

On Monday I pulled the trailer out of winter storage at the Aylmer Fairgrounds and parked it under my old shade trees.

Soon I’ll be back, finishing up final details with the Sprinter and the Argosy. I think I’ll probably want to have rock guards and a Zip Dee installed before I pull out for Newfoundland.

Folks enroute: let me hear from you if there are fairgrounds or farmyards on the way that I can park on.

Sergei

Sergei!

So good to hear from you. Your trip all the way around the African continent sounds amazing, I'm so glad you were able to do it.

May your trip around the North American continent be amazing as well! And of course I hope to meet you if you stop in Austin. The Pecan Grove RV Park is still there for the time being, so make your reservations early when you're headed over.

The BBQ and/or Tex-Mex and the beer and/or margaritas are on me when you do stop by.

Best,
-Marcus

Hi Sergei
Welcome back.
I do not know your routes on the the way to NF but it may be a good idea to start another thread asking about "other parking options" for this trip.

There are many Airstreamers up that way that may have available parking (wbcci) Airforums and new TAC club members that can help.

If you cruising through Nova Scotia I read that Craig Dorsey of www.vintagevacations.com has moved his operation from southern California and is even planning a campground. That would be an interesting visit.

Very cool looking Argosy. We just had ours painted in the last two weeks and are finishing up the inside to be ready for Wyoming in June, 2010 If you want to see ours go to search and put in jjustice and it will come up.

The original tie downs used to secure the Mini proved unwieldy. It took forever to unbundle (and figure out) the pile of spaghetti they seemed to be – and then the tight Mini wheel wells made for even more difficulty.

I wondered if a single strap around each tire might work and when I saw a professional car hauler using that very method while delivering Mini’s in Toronto I quickly threw away my initial set and started again.

(The car haul, incidentally, had progressed through the same spaghetti bundle to single belt metamorphis.)

Now I can tie down all four wheels in less time than it took to un-puzzle a singe wheel strap.

Looks great, Sergei! Do you winch the car on or drive it on?

Grant, Aage - nice to hear that you like it.

I drive the car up and back it down comfortably now but I will keep the winch operative in case it's ever needed.Like a private tow truck. ( Hope not).

Grant, was there a scrap of the grey laminate left over? I'm going to replace my infamous Ikea salad bowl sink with a real vessel sink. My experiment didn't work.

In case I have to recover the bath counter was there any laminate left over?

Sergei

Yes, I have a piece of the laminate that we used on the table and shelf over the sink that is 17.5" by 42". I also have a piece of the same pattern but a bit thicker that is 20.75" by 26.25". It is a leftover scrap from the kitchen counter in our house which is the same pattern.

You're welcome to either or both.

Grant
