Closer to the end

We’ve had the wettest spring and summer in recorded history in Southwestern Ontario this year so I really miss my old weather shed.

Nevertheless, things keep moving ahead. Here Vince helps with getting the trim back in place.

The unit is covered with shop grime and lot dust at this juncture but we’ll post shined up photos later. This is just an update.

Ramps are stowed beneath the Mini in aluminum/nylon slides.

Tool chests or “possum bellys” along both sides for stowage.

The generator rides right behind the cab but slides forward when access for servicing is needed.

This is portable inverter model entirely made in Japan by Sabaru. They have a marketing alliance with Onan for North America.

I have had the wheels removed and the plant permanently monted to the truck bed. It wil also be painted black. Both measures are to discourage “unwanted portability”.

Note the T leg which Bill built into each ramp. It drops down automatically as you pull the ramp out. This strengthens the ramp when it is tested by weight.

Bill reminds me of a young Norman Mailer. Being a farm boy, he may not know Norman Mailer. I will ask him sometime.

Next week we will get the car up on the deck, complete the exhaust stack and install tie-downs for the auto.

Then it’ll be done. When everything is shined up nicely I’ll submit a better picture.

Waste Management Compartment Update

Compartment closed and locked. It’s nice not to have to deal with the stinky slinky.

Sergei,

I like your waste management compartment approach. I will have to give some thought to doing something similar. I have been intending right along to use a macerator pump but had not finished making up my mind as to where it would be. Things are looking good...

Waste Management Compartment Update #2

Malcolm, Cameron, others:

It’s a wonder you could follow the macerator posting at all. I sent that from an auto dealership while my car was being repaired yesterday.

Their wireless must not be MAC friendly. Let’s try again:

A macerator pump "chews" up the solids in the pumped fluid prior to being sent through the impeller of the pump. This makes the pumped solids significantly smaller and can thereby be sent through a much smaller pipe or tube. They are used quite often in Waste Water Treatment plants in the transfer stations. The units I was responsible for were fairly large (2 - 16 HP). The units in RV's are typically about 1/2 HP.

Is this something that one could easily add to a trailer, or does it need considerable planning? Could one put such a pump in line between the sewage valve and a hose draining to a sewage line? I'm thinking in terms of the advantage and ease of running a standard garden hose quite a distance to a waste line access rather than running a 3" slinky the same distance. Being able to quickly attach an in-line macerator when the tank needs draining seems like something that may be worthwhile. Any thoughts?

Also check out the black water section here. A few threads on macerators there if I remember correctly.

your desired application is what these pumps were designed for.
