Broken '79 Argosy lav sink

I am so mad, just drove 14 hours picking up my "new" 79 Argosy. The weather was -8F the whole drive and on the drive home a bottle that was left somewhere fell through the sink shattering it. What can I do? Are there replacements sold somewhere or should I put in a new sink and cut wood and fomica for the counter top? I am so tired and so bummed. I have a feeling will be reading and posting a lot over the next few months.

There are lots of options for you. If you have the more or less free standing sink you can replace it just as you would in your home. If it's built in to the counter in the bath, you will have more work to do,but don't be too bummed out. Rest up and take another look at it tomorrow. These trailers can be redone just like your home in many respects. If you are like we were when we got our "new" 78 Argosy, one repair led to another repair, which led to a remodel, which led to months of the most fun you could imagine. Take a deep breath and know that you can design something you will like that will make your Argosy, YOUR ARGOSY. Good luck and welcome to the Forum and the wonderful world of cute cream Airstreams.

If is is the bottom of the lav is broken out ,maybe it can be covered by a self rimming china sink, depends on how much top you have to play with. They are made 19x19
17x21 and many different sizes. You would need to cut top to fit new sink.Hope this helps.

Sinks can be repaired, to be even better than new, as well as replacing them, depending on which one you may have.

We have some fiberglass sink/counter tops in our parts department, that we had molds made for the reproductions.

Thank you for your replies and so quickly. I had a good night sleep and will take a look at it with new eyes. I have to throw the heater in it and take a look at what I just bought.

Andy I will definately be in touch to see if you have a mold for this one. I will take pictures to show you.

Well after a lot of thought and considering costs, I have decided to go with a acrylic bar sink (Home Depot) and making a counter top out of plywood and peel and stick floor tiles. I figure if it does not turn out nice I am only out a few dollars and can try something else.

After getting the it home and looking it over, somethings were better than I had though and some were worse.
-The body is great no dings at all but the paint is bad.
-The furnace looks shot. The front water tank pipe was cut off and now the previous owners tells me there is no tank there.
-The frig does not seem to work.
-Not sure about the pipes or hot water heater.
-I see a broken wire on the brakes so I gues they dont work.
-The canopy is completely rotted.
-The good is the interior is like brand new. Well except the sink that a bottle dropped through. I was amazed after washing everything down. There isnt anything broken or chipped. The original cushions will need to be replaced. Oh yeh he put brand new 8 ply tires on it.

I guess that is what I get for an impulse purchase on E-bay. Never even thought of owning a trailer until a few days before buying this thing. But my wife wanted one to go on vacations with the dogs. So since I love projects I have a big expensive one now.

I will post photos of the sink as i get it done next week.

Nick, Wow sounds like me.. I bought mine also on ebay and have been working on it the last 3 months. After I picked it up found out was going to be quite a project. ($)...I replaced my sink with a bar sink from Home Depot after someone's suggestion on the Forum. Worked out great!

Finally got a chance to upload the photo from the sink. I really like how it turned out. Only time will tell how it will hold up. However, if the plywood does not hold up I can quickly redo it. The top took less than an hour and only cost a few bucks. I had most of the parts laying around the house. The only thing that I would recommend with the peel and stick tiles is to use adhesive on the plywood. This will give you a very secure bond.
