I had an interesting thing happen. One of my "lug bolts" stripped
out the threads in the brake drum. The drum was ruined as far as
I am concerned. So I went to a local "Trailer Supply" specialy shop
and found new brake type with lug bolts and lug nuts.
The fellow also had brake assemblys. At a cost of about $92.00 per
wheel - I purchased bearings, caps, drum, lug nuts and new brake
assemblys. Tax included about $200.00 per axle....that is me doing the
labor. If you have a vintage Argosy with good axles/ seems
like a very good upgrade that sweeps across several problem areas.
If those lug bolts will not pull down tight...beware....the wheel, the bolt,
or the hole in the drum can be very tired....causing heating and a small
list of nasty results.
