Argosy true length

Hello Everyone,

I am in the process of closing a deal on what has been advertised as a 24' Argosy which is quite a bit away from me. I realize this could bite me since I haven't seem her in person but they are rare in my area. I've been told the length includes the tongue. Now to my question: is this a 22' or 24' bodied Argosy & how can I verify the length without a measuring tape?

I apologize for my lack of knowledge & appreciate any help I can get.

An Argosy 24 is going to be approximately 21-feet of body plus 3-feet of hitch. The actual length of the body may be a bit more or less as some rounding occurred with variances among model years. Should this be a 7.3 Metre Minuet, it was measured and sold with Metric designations but titled as a 24-foot so the variance could be more pronounced with one of those. With the model year of the Argosy that you are purchasing, someone on the Forums should be able to provide you with the precise specifications for the trailer.

Good luck with your Argosy!

Kevin

Thanks 😊

Will the VIN read the same on a minuet as it does on a regular Argosy? My guess is that if it is, indeed, a standard 24-foot trailer, the VIN would read 24D4V......
Is that the same for a minuet with an added character?

For reasons unknown, there isn't a particular identifying character in the Minuets' VINs. The 6.0 Metre is identified as a 20, the 6.7 Metre is identified as a 22, and the 7.3 Metre is identified as a 24 . . . no difference in the configuration of the VIN . . . the difference is in floor width . . . 7.0 feet for Minuets and 7 feet 8 inches for the regular Argosy (First Generation) travel trailer line. The Minuets also were only made for three years . . . 1977 through 1979.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin

Hi Kevin

My VIN reads 24T5V0351. Is there anything in particular I should be checking for upon inspection?

Looks like a 24' Twin made in 1975.
