Question Argosy Trailer Lengths

I have a question about the actual trailer length of Argosy's. The Airstream trailer length is actually 3' less than the overall length. An example is a 28' Overlander is actually 25' trailer with a 3' tongue. Is this the same with Argosy? Would a 26' Argosy actually be 23' of trailer and 3' of tongue?

Yes, as with most of the RV industry, Argosy measurements include the tongue and rear bumper which results in the actual coach length being approximately 3' shorter than the stated length. I say about as Airstream/Argosy were inconsistent over the years as to whether they rounded up or down -- as an example, my '64 Overlander was sold as 26' but actually measured 26' 8".

Thanks, I appreciate the information . So if I see a 24' Argosy its lenght is actually 24- 3 = 21' trailer lenght. It seems then that Argosys were more often built in the shorter lenghts than the Airstreams? As i see more 22, 24 trailes listed than longer ones.

Thanks again

The Argosy target market included young families and first-time buyers so the smaller coaches were more common. Comparing to the mid-priced competition from the same time period, in many caeses, reveals similar popularity of the 22' to 25' range. Two of Argosy's unique floorplans (not then available in Airstreams) were the 22' Rear Door and the 24' Rear Door) -- these were offered after 1975 and went out of production at about the time the Minuets were introduced.

I measured twice

I have a 20' Argosy. About twenty feet long from hitch to bumper.
The interior length is about 16'
