Argosy Scam Alert

Watch out for this scam on Craigslist and elsewhere regarding a nice looking 1972 22' Argosy for $7990. Could be nationwide and looks like TCT runs scams world wide in a variety of arenas. Here's a response after I asked about the trailer from the CL ad. BTW, the ad was flagged off by Craigslist but I suspect the scammers know that, but also know they can get quick hits early.

"The trailer is still available, unfortunately I had to leave town due to a family emergency which I am not going to bother you with. This is not an excuse or anything because I am selling it through TCT anyway, so my situation has nothing to do with the transaction. If you are familiar with TCT then you know what I mean, if not I'll be happy to walk you through it. Also feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks,
- Michelle

This scam originates from Russia and was launched earlier this month (December), most likely nationwide.
Not sure whose Argosy was tossed out for bait, but if anyone knows or suspects they know whose it is, let me know. I have a full set of photographs. Nice trailer. Jeff

I believe all the information for this scam was pulled off of this site using the 1972 Argosy 22' for sale in Ohio.

Thanks. Interesting. How long ago, do you remember? Just read another suspect on Craigslist in your neck of the woods. A 2005 30' Safari Bunk for $20,500 (in the Portland Craigslist). Skimpy information at best. Wonder if people actually send deposits?

Seems like this one is a little harder to catch compared to the newer Bambi's with ridiculously low prices. It is actually a reasonable price that someone would feel confident contacting, but clearly the 'out of country' excuse is a HUGE red flag.

Take a look at TCT's fund raising website..a complete scam from top to bottom - cut and pasted from legitimate sites. Same outfit that runs this Airstream scam all over the country. Looking legit is what the scam is all about.

By the way, the scam ad still resides on this forum's classifieds.

Thanks..see now that the ad has expired. Not sure why the classified folks leave ads posted even after they expire? Back in October looks like some folks suspected a scam from the get go. The scam version was just flagged off Craigslist in Seattle again a couple of days ago.
