Thanks for the great information about the pressure test. I read somewhere on this forum that you could test for loose rivets by using a suction cup ,I image that it works great, but the time involved would be a pain. Your pressure test would be a lot easier to do and the Airstream needs a good bath anyways .
I’m almost done. It’s been awhile since I posted. Here is a teaser. More pics and explanations of work done. Interior is finished. Custom made rock guards. Pocket door. Tile shower. Tile kitchen backsplash. And much more. If you need motivational encouragement to spur your project on, I hope these next few posts will help. Btw, mine has taken 10 years to complete.
I have the same 28' argosy- 1976. just had a few weeks but it started in better shape- mostly actually original and complete. BUT so much work to do below all that. subfloor rotted out etc, that I am not sure it maybe have been better to just buy a gutted shell as it turns out I have to do that anyway! so more work for me!
I am also painting it blue- going with a slate/metal blue but will do the whole shell. matte finish auto grade. I think it will look nice with the silver/aluminum highlights. so strip around windows etc- aluminum and slate blue. its ordered and coming and I have begun prep.
one advantage of the Argosy over an airstream! you can paint it as you like!!
