Argosy Minuet 22' and 24' (1979?)

Greetings fixbymark!

According to the information that I have, your coach is indeed a Minuet 7.3 Metre -- according to my information, your VIN decodes as:

24' (7.3 Metre)
T (Twin Bed Floorplan)
9 (1979 Model Year)
V (Versailles, OH assembly plant)
6139 (Sequential Production Number)

While Argosy advertised the Minuets utilizing metric lengths, the titles and data plates reflected the more traditional US measurement system. My 6.0 Metre Minuet reflects 20' in its VIN.

1979 Argosy

I think we may have a 23' Argosy. It has a 7' floor width. I just joined but I will try to put a picture on soon.

Welcome to the forums. Airstreams and Argosys are measured from the bumper to the ball... and the measuerments are not quite exact. There was some "rounding up". If you have the serial number we can help you figure it out.

I have a 22' Minuet built in 1979

Hi. I found your post inquiring about a 79 Minuet. Well, I have a 22' /6.7 Minuet with the vin # 22D9V so Im thinking it was built in Sept of 79. Would like to know how many 79' you think may be around today. I have the manual and Argosy put a supplement page in for the Minuet. I even have the dealership business card where it was originally purchased.

Minuet 6.7 in North Carolina

Hi Group,
My Argosy is a Minuet 6.7 too. It's VIN # is 22D8V1752. It has front sofa and side gaucho. It was sold originally in the Charleston, SC area and has been in the south all of it's years from what I can gather. It survived a small brush with a tree during Hurricane HUGO of 1989. I agree, it does tow great!

Argosy Minuets in Print

Hi Gang,
Looking through my Trailer Life magazines of 1977 and 1978, the December 1977 issue features a 2 page ad with what appears to be an Argosy 7.3 behind a Buick wagon. I got out my magnifying glass and think I am seeing Minuet on the side of the trailer. This is a tandem axle model.

The 20 foot Minuet is touted to be "the first and only travel trailer scaled for the new American compact cars."

A March 1978 edition Trailer Life magazine ad (2 page spread) shows a 20 foot Minuet hooked behind an American Motors Pacer and in print mentions the all-new 22 footer weighing in at 2725 pounds.

June 1977 edition has a multi-page atricle featuring the 20 foot Argosy Minuet being towed by the "down-sized" Chevy Caprice.

Argosy Minuet 20 is base price listed at $ 5995 and the 22 footer is base priced at $7280.00

All info above is derived from Trailer Life Magazine.

Hello everyone, I've been away from the forum & my Bauble... I have all of the purchase information & manuals for mine yet they are in storage and I will not be able to get to them for a few more months. I'm wondering why the manufacture can not tell us the information we want to know about how many of each year, model and configuration they sold? Mine has been 'stored' for 4 years now with only an occasional cleaning inside and out ... so I'm worried that when I want to take it out of mothballs there will be a lot of work to do. I did recently contact a friend that is a 'Model Maker' machinist that would be willing to make metal sliders for the curtains if I can convince him that there is a market for them. Does anyone know if these were exclusive to the Argosy's or did the Airstream's use the same LAME plastic design?
Best Regards Tim

I continue to work on my 'collection' of Minuet pictures.

Fred's Airstream Archives - Minuet Page

I have pictures of eight units so far and another 3 to be loaded. Donations are ALWAYS accepted!

It's amazing that these units are selling today for near the original (new) sales price (in some cases more than $5,995).

Fred, we have been offered over 12 grand - more than once for our minuet. And, I'm seeing them unrehabbed for 6 K on a regular basis - most especially the 6 metre ones.

Another Minuet 7.3

We arrived home late last night from purchasing Snow White, our 1979 Argosy Minuet 7.3 twin (24T). Measured floor width this morning, approx 6'8" inside measure across. Has Minuet nameplates on roadside and curbside. We're thrilled, can't even start on prioritizing to get it fixed up. Well, not exactly true . . . Replace water heater, test gas system, check electrical, pressure test water plumbing. Take it on the road -- Wait@! get it licensed first.

We're starting. Pictures later.
