Question Argosy Curtains

Well its time to start working on the new curtains. Me and my mom will be making them. My question is does anyone have photo's of the original pleated drapes? We were hoping to get an idea on the way they're made. Mine has the tabs with elastic, i need to know where they put the tab in. How the front window is divided up, Is it 2 panels or 4. And anything that would help. Thanks

Minuet

My Argosy Minuet 6.7 has 4 panels on the front windows. Unfortunately I don't have pictures that show the originals. The ones there now are the second set of home made ones. I am sure that someone on this forums has "real" originals that they can tell you about. I am about to do the same project for the Minuet. I want to do mine with room darkening linings too. I am still looking for a great fabric that will coordinate with the gauchos which are already redone.
Good luck with your project.
Lou

My 1975 Argosy 26 has 4 panels. Ten pleats each. The elastic tabs are attached right beside each pleat. There is a velcro tab at the top and bottom of each panel to hold it tight to the adjacent panel. I will try to post pics.

This is my 24ft Argosy, both front and the curb side in the rear. Everything is two panels except the front which is four panels. Two smaller panels at each side and then two larger panels in the middle.

Thanks so much for the info!! This will help so much. We had nothing to go by. Well one good thing we do have the old cushions to use as a pattern. So that one will be easy. Going with a new foam and material. Sometime this project can get deeper than we wanted. Thanks again!!!!!

snaps?

Are there still snaps in the outside corners of the curtains to hold them against the curved walls?? If so, how much fabric is left from the corner to the snap?

As for the foam for the gauchos, if you sign up for the JoAnn Fabric mailings, you get a flyer each month for their sales. In that flyer is usually a coupon for 40% off of an item. I went each month for several months getting a discount on each piece of foam until I had enough...4 pieces. That made a huge savings in the costs. I did the same thing with the fabric. Do you hve JoAnn Fabric stores there?

Lou. The snaps are at the top and bottom. Here are pics of one of the bottom snaps. They are all the same. At least on mine. Roger

thanks

Thanks for the pictures. I knew that they had those, however I thought there was much more material between the snap and the edge of the curtains. I am thinking that I will add more width on the curtains so that they will be full enough to cover a little better, even though the velcro is there.

Thanks again!

On the origianl curtains the face of the curtain rolls under and snaps to the wall. So more material between the snap and the edge of the curtain would mean that you had more material doulbled over. That is why, I think, that the snap is so close to the edge.

Lou, We don't have a JoAnn's but we have a Hancock! And we had the same ideas on the coupon. We both get the flyers so that's 2 coupons! Thanks Pam

Thanks for posting these photos. I was wondering what the snaps on the wall were for. Ours no longer has drapes it came with blinds.

how much?

How many yards of fabric did you buy? did you also buy the room darkening fabric? Lining fabric? Keep me posted and pass along the tips! I will be doing this too! Good luck with the project. Make sure you post some photos as you go! Thanks in advance.
