GOOD NEWS! - I think we got lucky!

I just got off the telephone with Frank in the parts department at Oasis RV in Tuscon, AZ (this information thanks to Canoe Stream). He said he had the "J" channel. In order to provide the correct part, as this channel comes in several variations of size, he needs the height and width of the "J" channel that you are replacing - also the color. I asked about off-white or ivory and he said he had that color. You can place an order by calling Frank in the Parts Department at 1-800-658-5863. Thanks to everyone for the help in finding this source. Carol

Tried to private message you about the Search question, but I don't think it went thru. Just ask your question here and someone will direct you to the right source. That Search will find any post with "any" of the words you typed. It can lead you in all directions. Try it here and someone will help you. Thanks for the tip on the J-channel. Judy

"J" Channel Received - It's a Perfect Match

Hi! Just a quick note to let everyone know that I received the "J" channel from Oasis RV in Tucson, AZ and it's a perfect match to what was used in my '77 Argosy trailer. The color and size are exact matches. The trim is very flexible, but I think you will still have to clip the inside of the trim on corners and maybe even use a heat gun - not sure, but am going to try both methods. They also have the orange insert for the upper and lower outside rub rail if anyone needs any. Oasis RV was a real pleasure to work with - very knowledgable and the shipping was very prompt. Carol

Edd Zachary, Carol .... I agree exactly on what you say about Oasis and the "J" channel. Nice folks there!

People have had the troubles with the orange beltline trim shrinking over time. That is not totally the case... If it does not go into the extrusion easily and significant friction exists, it might stretch as you pull it through. The later result is that it will relax to the original length and seem short at the ends. If it is tight you might try uniformly sanding the backside so that it is thinned some. Using a water-based silicone product to lube is also recommended. I do have to give credit to InlandRV's Andy on some of these instructions (complex world, eh?). He has pointed out that your original installation did have a rivet through each end to prevent any retraction.
