Argosy 28' mattresses

After almost choking on airstreams freight charges for mattresses (the cost of mattresses was not to bad). I started searching and contacted North American Mattress Company. I sent them a template of our twin beds and for 5" thick mattresses paid considerable less than airstream wanted. I'm not sure what their shipping was like because I picked them up last weekeend when we went to portland. Paula and her group were excellent to work with.

Curved Mattresses...

Hi Rod,

Sounds like you did good!

I wonder if they make curved mattresses to fit my '76 Argosy with rear twins?

Chris

Yes, mine has the rear twin beds with curve. I used a sheet of plastic and made a template by laying it on the bed support. That way they were able to size it perfectly. There are two versions, one with a heavy nylon cover and one with a typical mattress type cover. I chose the nylon cover. It has an inch heavy dense foam, 3" of medium foam and 1" of memory foam on top. They also have a zipper on the back curved side. She did mention that you could get 2" of memory foam for a 6" thick mattress.

Bex, thats fine with me. I told them I was going to spread the word. My original mattresses were 76" long but I had enough room That I made them 78 Long x 33 1/2 Wide. They fit a lot better than the shorter ones. I would think that they kept a pattern.

I had a call back from the Company, pricing is good ($285.00 each as I recall) but shipping to Canada makes them too expensive for us. Looking at more local alternatives.

Yea
That was the problem with buying them from airstream, the shipping was over half the cost of the mattress.
