Argosy 2.0

Alright guys, I've lurked around here long enough so I figure it's time to actually contribute. I bought a 1977 Argosy 22 back in November, quit my job Jan 1, and spent about 6 weeks fixing it up with my folks. I left Texas on Feb 15 for about a year on the road in the Argosy with my pup, Baxter. I've even made a blog about the whole thing: Steven & Baxter's Big Adventure - A man and his dog travel the country in a restored 1977 Airstream Argosy 22 travel trailer..

Just this last Saturday I picked up the Argosy from receiving a paint job outside Tampa, FL. I'll attach some pics and please check out the blog. Things are going great so far and I couldn't be happier with the Argosy! Thanks for all the support and information this forum provides; it was an essential lifeline for us in working through the renovation. Thanks!

Congratulations, it sounds like a great trip!

You may just have the trailer set up for photos and not travel, but I wanted to point out one thing just in case: If you open the curtains over the front-center window, leave the bathroom door open (it probably has a latch to keep it open if it's original) and the bathroom blind open then you can see through the trailer to get a glmpse of what's directly behind the trailer while you're driving. It's one of the best things about towing a '70s trailer. Well, that and the fact that they're much lighter!

You might also think about on-road protection for the Panorama windows at the front corner. The only new ones that are available are tinted, I bought a whole parts trailer to get a pano and some other vintage Argosy parts.

Sounds like a great plan. The map route looks like a lot of fantastic stops. You will make memories of a lifetime in your nicely painted Argosy. Glad Baxter is feeling better.

Nice, I hope to quit my job in the next three years. For the remainder of my life (Retire) Did you replace the axles? look like she is riding high. If so what did you use? Replace tires? Hope you have a safe and exciting adventure. Bill
