'79 Argosy

There is a white wire that has been cut off sticking out of the closet next to the sink. It looks factory as it has a little rubber ring it is thread thru. Put a tester on it ..no voltage. Any one know what it's for?

It was most likely a positive side for a light. Was your test light grounded to chassis? If so a fuse for it may be out, or it is disconnected in your fuse box. Argosy used inner wall skins to ground the circuit. Thanks, "Boatdoc"

It looks like speaker wire, has two wires in one. Still think its for a light?

Squid,

My 79 Argosy 27' speaker wires are Red, Green, Black and light grey (this could look white). I posted a question about the wires for the radio last week. I found out that the dark grey was a hot and the white was the neutral. I don't know if that helps. Good Luck.

Had a wire running across the floor under the carpet in my 78 Argosy. It didn't do anything but ran over from the pump to the frig.. We decided it must have been for a fan in the compartment behind the frig.. It was probably used to keep the frig. cool in the New Mexico summers since that's where to trailer spent most of its life. Ours also looked very "factory", but probably was a dealer install.

Is it a flat white wire with two strands? It may be old TV antenae wire. My Argosy had a some of this hanging out of the cabinets. george

I think it is speaker wire

We have the same wire coming out of that closet and the same wire coming through a grommet in the cabinet above the refrigerator of our '78. We have the original speakers on each side wall at the front windows and the wire looks identical. I have seen some pictures where there were speakers also installed on the closet wall over the sink and on the wall above the refrig just above the thermostat for those folks who would want 4 speakers. That's my theory.

Beth, I think your the winner! Sure looks likes a speaker wire to me also. My stereo is above the frig so I am not going to try hook up even though the oringinal speakers are still in good shape at the front of the coach.
Thanks for everyones input.

This isn't a great photo, but one I saved when looking at interiors of our little trailers. Note the speakers in the kitchen area. I have those in the front now, but think I would like 2 more!

On the left is an original speaker and my guess is to the right of it is the paper towel holder.
