'78 Argosy 6 metre Minuet battery compartment door

Hope someone can help me out here. I do not have the key to the
battery compartment door is there some way to get this open without
using the key?

Welcome to the forums!

Several choises here to get the door open.

1. Find another Airstream owner and try their key, it might work.
2. Pick the lock (get a locksmith).
3. Drill it out.
4. Pop the door open. If yours is like my 75 TW, the arm that holds the door closed is not very strong. Several people have had the battery bounce against the door and force it open on the road. It happened to me, but the good news is I did not loose the battery.

In my Aistream I can get to the back of compartment doors from under the bed or closet. If you can, if it is like my airstreams you can loosen the catch with a wrench.

If that doesn't work and Richard's ideas don't work, you can always get a big hammer.

Welcome to the Forums and the world of Minuet ownership! I can't guarantee that this will work on your Minuet, but it worked on mine when the key wouldn't work in my battery compartment lock. Using an artist's pallette knife (a very flexible, thin bladed paint application tool), I worked the knife between the door and body trim and pushed the lock lever to the unlocked position -- I was then able to install a new cylinder to replace the defective cylinder.
