I had a bad experience with Dometic's customer service on my AC unit. So I really don't want to use their refrigerator. Does anyone have any comments about the Norcold N300 which is a close enough fit for my old RM46E Dometic.
Is there a measurement for the top of the axle to the wheel well that tells you the condition of the axle rubber? Or is there another way to tell the condition?
For the axle go to pages 1 and 2 of "Information Overload" in this forum. Andy at Inland RV refers to an article on axles that will answer your axle questions. As for the refrigerator, I just finished putting in a Dometic 2351 to replace the RM46. I figured the 46 lasted 30 years so I couldn't go too far wrong with the Dometic. Also, it was on sale at ppl motorhomes. In passing, I doubt any of them will be a drop in fit. Prepare for some modification.

Eventhough we had Inland RV use the old door as a pattern for the new door, we had to cut the new door down twice to get it in place. Even at that, trying to feed the new door into the track is a challenge and takes patience. LOL
Today we brought the Argosy home from the shop. We had a new battery charger/converter installed, two new Fantastic fans, a new antenna with cable hookup, valve under bathroom sink removed and replaced with direct pipe, and had the plumbing on the shower drain installed so that the shower now drains out the blakc/grey water outlet. Interior is now complete.

Duo, during your tambour door project did you ever manage to expose the entire lower track...including the roll-up part? The under-sink tambour on my '76 Argosy 26 is binding on me and I'd like to clean the entire track but can't figure out how to get into it.
Our roll-up part is on the right side of the cabinet in a small compartment. Once the tambour door was removed, the plastic roll-up part was able to be removed, as it is held in place by two screws. We washed this and then replaced.
Great, thanks. My tambour rolls on the right side as well. So does that mean that I have to remove the tambour door in order to get to the roll-up portion of the lower track? If so, how do I remove the tambour?
I just looked at the tambour door under the sink. I am going to hazard a guess that the tracks for the door are held to the cabinet with two pop rivets, one at either side of the door opening about 1.5 inches down from the door opening. Drilling these out should drop the track and free the door. This is just a guess as I have not removed this door in my own Argosy, but it looks like a good guess to me.

I was afraid someone would say that....I have yet to drill out a rivet. I'm perfectly capable, just apprehensive. That means I have to go buy a rivet gun to redo whatever I undo. I guess I should have expected that comes with buying a vintage Argosy.
Be of good cheer. Buy 1/8" drills, put the point in the dimple in the head of the rivet, drill carefully and square to the surface, and the head will pop off. The track will drop when the rivets release. Go to Harbor Freight or Lowes or Home Depot and buy a pop rivet tool and some 1/8" rivets, medium length. When you get the track and scroll cleaned, align the holes in the track, slip the rivet into place, use the tool to pull the rivet. I would guess you will have to color the head of the rivet with a marker as I have yet to find brown rivets.
