I am a new owner, Cornbread, so know very little but would like to welcome you to the forum. And if you'll paint the Argosy aqua & lime, I promise to come help .....

I found Meguire's Cleaner & wax (in one bottle) with a random orbit buffer gave good results. If your paint is a little thin, I would go easy on the abrasives in the wax.
And by the way, welcome to the forums!

1976 Argosy 28 ft.

Hi! We are newbies with a 1976 28 footer. Rear twins. She has curved windows at both ends. Was this an option? Is it fairly rare? Would love to hear any info on this trailer. Any Argosy owners in Georgia?

Thanks!

While I am not as familiar with the Argosy motorhomes as travel trailers, the rear windows with side-wrap wing windows were a feature pioneered in the Argosy line before they appeared in the Airstream line. From what I have been able to learn about the Argosy trailers (during the mid-1970s), if the coach had a rear bedroom it also had the rear window with wing windows. I am not certain whether the same "general rule" applied to the motorhomes as to the trailers, but I suspect that it may.

Good luck with your coach!

Kevin

Kevin,

The MH was the same as the trailers in that if the bed was in the rear, the wrap around windows were there too. That was one of the features we longed for on our 76, so we upgraded to a 78 with a rear bed.

Nowhereman,

Your window setup is not necessarily rare, but there were fewer rear bed 28's built than any other mix from what I have seen. Most of the 28's out there had a rear bath. Welcome to the world of Argosy MH ownership. It is a fun ride!

Use a good cleaner/wax remover first to get off the old dull stuff. This can be done by hand. I used Mothers brand, but there are many available. Try a small area like 3x3 at a time.
Then polish with a non abrasive wax or sealant. There are many good ones here as well, its a matter of choice. The waxes will require more frequent redo than a sealant though.
If that doesn't shine it up, you would need to buff out the paint after the wax is removed with a mildly abrasive polish and although it can be hand done, a machine will save a lot of sweat. Again try a small area first.
Good luck. Its rewarding to see the final result, mine is twenty two yrs old and the shine can be dazzling.(photo is prior to my removal of the lower grey paint...even looks better now)

I think he has a trailer

Hey guys, I think he has a RARE 28ft trailer. I saw one ONCE on EBAY with "both front and rear curved windows." The one I saw was a midbath, with the bedroom in the rear. It looked REALLY long for an Argosy.

Do you have the trailer? We'd love to see pics!
Marc
