'73 Argosy with trunk
Hey All!
I have a 73 Argosy with an oddity... it has a trunk. It appears to be factory installed. The frame extends back past the main body then a trunk is added. The rivets are the same as the rest.
My theory is the factory had either a special order or it's the last off that run. They had a 24' frame/chassis and a 22' body.
Any body have any ideas?

My 73 has storage inside the back bumper but it's not a trunk by any stretch of the imagination. This I want to see. Pics please.

Also, in the interest of safety, your tail lights are improperly located, as they should be seen from almost each side of the trailer.

Your sewer dump is also not in the original location. I would bet on this being after market work.

It looks like they did a nice job. I'm betting the pvc pipe is hose storage.

Not factory at all. Put only lightweight stuff in it if you use it, the frame is not strong enough to support it. The top looks like it was an home made job.

The frame extends to the bumper. The PVC pipe under I did to store the dump hose.
I got the trailer over 10 years ago. The man who had it had a Propane heater near the door that he removed, but did not plug the gas line. It got knocked open by his dog, the man had no sense of smell. He lit the stove and had an explosion. It blew the windows open and scorched the interior. He survived, but was burnt badly.
He decided to get rid of the trailer. He traded it to me and my family for a small refrigerator. He wanted it to store his cat food....lol
It took several weekends over several months to clean up and repair the interior.
I had to replace the light fixtures, they were all melted.
The rear trunk I use for BBQ grill, hoses and tools. The bottom holds the Electrical cord.

A trunk
Just think!
If A$ would have come up with this idea. It could have prevented the dreaded floor rot caused by their design.
Looks like a good place to store things like lawn chairs and other light weight bulky items.

I actually like your placement for the sewer hose. Right behind the wheel it is not likely to get bumped by road hazards.

That almost looks like a 20 footer from the pics. Not enough windows on the side for 24'

A 20 foot Argosy would only have one axle. This Argosy has 2 axles.

Looks like you have an Argosy 22. If you have a separate bedroom area over the wheelwells, you would have an Argosy 24. On the outside, you would have a larger side window on an Argosy 24. The 22 would probably have two lounge/couches, known as gauchos. The fridge vent is in the middle of the trailer, also indicating a smaller trailer than a 24. With that said, the trunk is still not a good idea.
