Question 1978 30' Argosy

I'm looking at a 1978 30' Argosy T.T. I don't know much about them and would like to hear as many pros and cons as possible. The trailer has been owned by an older guy for the last 20 years and he has taken good care of it. I don't think I'll be on the road with it much, mostly just in one spot. Any structurual problems?

Craig,

If you haven't already, I'd go back and look through the forums devoted to the subject. You needn't look just at Argosy's.
From my point of view, the big structural problems to check out are floor rot and frame separation. Keyword searches will net you a lot of info on both, and the time and cost for repair. We purchased our TT with the entrance area already repaired, and a new floor laid down, but the POs ignored the very rear of the trailer (behind the toilet). Either water from the dump hoses worked it's way to that area, or a leaking valve on the toilet allowed water to congregate. Since the majority of the trailer is sound, we'll tackle that this winter.
I love our Argosy - it really stands out from all the box TTs you see!

Good luck,

Michelle

I too have an Argost 22 ft, and have since 1975. The toilet dump valve is a frequent problem and be careful the wood under the toilet is particle board. and a bitch to replace. I put Marine Plywood in and sealed it with waterproof sealer. Put in new pipe and valves about 4 years ago, and guess what? it leaks. There has to be a better way. OH! yes we do not put any paper in the toilet. but into a garbage bag.
