The inside is about about done. Next hook up the gas and check for leaks and test all appliances. The fridge is the only mystery to me.

Then all external. Lights, wheels, bearings, brakes.

Then ready for first trip.

External paint will be last.

Did replace the water pump and what a difference. 1 it has more pressure and 2 it is so quiet.

Hooked up the gas. Soapy water. No leaks. Stove and oven working. Hot water heater working. Can't work out the fridge or the furnace.

Onward

tail lights

The plastic moulding that holds the tail lights was cracked in several places. i removed it with the thought of just adding new tail lights directly to the body. However on further examination I felt that I should have a go at repairing it since it is certainly a distinguishing feature of the Argosy. So I mixed a batch of epoxy and applied some layers of glass fibre cloth. The inside is messy but will not be seen. I then sanded the outside and filled in some little voids with bondo, sanded again and then primered and painted with appliance paint. The colour "biscuit" is a great match for the original cream color of this Argosy.

I'm jealous that you've accomplished so much. Mine's buried under snow. Great repair job! I agree that it is a distinguishing feature.

Bathroom vent

Replaced the old bathroom vent with a venting fan. The old fan is mounted in a cast aluminum ring that is sandwiched between the inner and outer skins and held in place with two rivets and a ton of putty. The only way that I could remove it was to cut it out resultin in an 8 inch hole. Since the venting requires only a six inch hole, I have patched the roof with a 12 x 12 price of steel with the required 6 inch hole in the centre. Also pictured is my set up for getting on the roof. Very stable and safe. The ladder is 10 ft tall

Don't know how to edit a post but the last one posted the word "venting" when really I typed Ventline.

John, I just found your post in the forums. Very excited to take a closer look at your work and what you have done. I am embarking on somewhat the same route with our 1980 international 25 ft. While I am starting with the back of trailer and removing the black tank and replacing with a natures head composting toilet, I do see myself doing a similar front dinette as you have done. Very excited to go back and look closer. Nice work.

Rick.

Thanks Rick. It's a lot of work but a lot of fun too and challenging. Post pictures of your progress.

John

1980 international 25ft bath renovation

John, my thread is currently 1980 international 25ft bath renovation. I am way behind you but very much appreciate all of your pics. I see myself copying a lot of your work. I am just doing the bath at the moment to get her back to trip worthy. My next project may be the dinette. I currently have the gouco in front. I am curious as you were doing your building how much consideration did you give to "weight" and what types of materials did you use to meet any weight goals if you had tfront. Pictured is the current state of my bath.
Rick.

Ventline installed.

Installed, sealed and painted. Caution though, cutting through the roof at that location can sever some wires. Luckily I was able to reattach them fairly eadily.

Rick, I never considered any weight when doing this. I used plywood and pine framing. The framing is 1 x 1/2 sitting I really don't think there is much difference but since it is all added at the back and the front then presumably evens out. Also as you saw in my previous posts I ripped out all the copper and replaced it with plastic so that should make a difference.

Nice Job!

John, All that work done in about 9 months? Impressive. Time for the road, a cooler will suffice until you get the fridge going

Pex will be a project for next winter for me- get rid of the patched up copper.

Thanks Shawn. Got the fridge done. We have a local guy here who's reason for living is to rebuild rv fridges. Pulled it out on a Saturday and put it back together the following Thursday. $450.

Took our first trip that weekend to Tombstone, AZ. Everything worked great except the Satellite TV. But that's incidental. Looking forward to bigger trips this summer to get out the heat. 108F today.

Pex is great. Very easy to work with. Was nervous when I first turned on the water but not a leak anywhere.
