They are still original- I couldn't figure out how to paint them either. I've got new edge trim coming, maybe I'll re-visit the issue when that gets installed.

I replaced my light fixtures with these pancake lights on Ebay. Ebay listing # 171471727360 RV LED light, 12 volt ceiling pancake with dim/off/bright settings. $9.95 with free shipping.

I installed these over the sink, in the bathroom and under the shelves over the beds in my 77 Argosy. Bright is 280 lumins, dim is just right for a night light. I found a similar fixture with only on/off for the ceiling but these would work just as well. We are really happy with them and a lot more light than the originals.

Working great. I replaced the center roof fixtures in the bedroom and kitchen with low profile led combos as I am tall enough that the originals ones posed a hazard. All other bulbs were replaced with led bulbs and they work well. I had to buy them in packs of 10 and I needed 16 all told so I have some spares.

This is the exact model we just bought and have started to work on. We are gutting the back bedroom and putting in a double or queen size bed.
