74 Argosy

I am beginning a restoration on a 74 Argosy and will try to post progress over the next year or so.

Hey Cleareye, are you going to stay with the exterior paint scheme?

Paint

I plan to paint it the same as its background. Hopefully, it will be hidden in plain view like these frogs.

Nice job on the restoration project. I'll have to do that to mine some day. Did you have to replace any of the metal in the wheel wells?

Wow lpgasguy! That is some beautiful interior! How long did it take to completely redo it? Did you replace the cabinets above the sink or just refinish them in some way? Also the walls? Are they new panels or did you repair/paint the old ones? I've got a 1973 24 Argosy I just started on and one day its gonna look that good!

The cabinets are original and we just gave them some TLC... (If you have a problem with the tambour doors on the upper cabinets sliding easily, try dry lube spray) The walls were repainted with Zinser primer and then we just used satin interior paint as a top coat. It is still not "done" but is more then in a usable condition. I bought it in March of 2010 and worked on it all last summer. It's first trip was in August last year.

Also see picture below while boondocking (July 2011) at my aunt's house in Michigan's UP.

Great job!! We are also in the middle of a reno on our '73 Argosy 26. I am about to paint the interior walls. I can not determine what material was used. It does not appear to be Zolatone nor vinyl clad as been described. But seems to be just white texture paint on aluminium. I have cleaned them well with TSP & they look good. I just want them really white. My husband brought me Kilz original oil based today. Not sure about using an oil base? Was the Zinser you used the Lacquer or water based primer? I am afraid I will mess up the paint that is on there now if I put oil or lacquer based primer on it.
Any info & advice you have would be so appreciated.
Thank you

Oh btw......what did you paint the ABS end caps with? They look good. Ppl say to use Krylon Fusion or a bonding primer then paint. Also, did you use Laminate flooring? We are being told by installers not to use Laminate due to the extreme temp changes in an RV & the movement. I see many ppl using laminate in all types of RVs.
Thanks again
